PENNY Hardaway---- I DID NOT KNOW...

I just had to come in here and say a lot of you make great points. Penny is my favorite player of all time, even over the GOAT MJ. A lot of you guys makegreat points that he only really had two great years, etc. However, i think what a lot of us Penny fans saw was he had those two great years at the very startof his career and IF, yes here goes another IF, but if he was healthy, he'd be a legend no doubt for the simple fact that he was a beast already at THATearly in his career. My boy had it all, could score with the best of them, had THE best court vision, imo, had great bball iq, and was a pretty soliddefender.

I also think the whole, "it was the shoes that got him the love" is BS. I mean the shoes was fresh but for me, being a Penny fan, i was gonna getWHATEVER shoe he had at the time, even if they were butt ugly, just cause they were PENNY'S kicks. So for me, and i'm sure a lot of other Penny fans,it was Penny that made the shoe popular, not the other way around.

Another thing, TMac is my 2nd fav. player of all time and i think the comparisons to him and Penny are not very accurate. Tmac is more a scorer while Pennywas more a playmaker.

At the end of the day, both of my fav. players are cursed

EDIT: Hold up, had to quote this:
Penny showed up for the big moments which included playoffs during his time with the Magic. T-Mac never made it past the 1st round. I mean yea Magic had a better team, but the NBA was tougher overall back then too. T-Mac has great regular season moments. But he can never come in the clutch when it really counts, the postseason.
That's such a false statement it ain't even funny. Tmac played better in ALL his playoffs compared to the regular season. People actlike he played worst in the playoffs cause he never won. He didn't win because of MANY reasons but not because he didn't perform. Every year in theplayoffs, before the Utah series, he has ALWAYS upped his level of play in EVERY category.

imo T-Mac & Penny weren't as similar as some of yall are saying...Penny was a much quicker guy, while T-Mac played a somewhat slower pace.
I think D-Wade's game kinda reminds me of Penny

That stepback where he jumps like backwards is just crazy.

I loved hisstyle- was mad smooth, but jerky at the same time.

6'7 point guard
triple double threat every game
playoff performer leading team to finals in 2nd season
him and Grant Hill were the best youngsters in the game in that era, maybe J. Kidd too

90s NBA

Penny was the second coming of Jordan when he was drafted. He brought youth, excitment, and even more marketing to the NBA. He was awesome to watch, hewas the first Kobe. Unfortunately, injuries brought him down, and he never could come back from that..

His career is overrated. Thats the point im gettin at. completely agree about him being a great player, but hes overrated. His shoes really gave him that extra. here are some of your statements.

"When he was healthy".

"because when he was healthy he delivered"

"he was the best for 2 years".

Im lookin at things holistically. Hell andre miller even had one ridiculous season. Injuries are a part of the game, and they affect your legacy thats why i bring up the Hill reference. It sucks but thats life. Thats why Jordan and Kobe and so far Lebron are blessed. Theyve been healthy

If Len bias didnt die he could have been great
If Griffey didnt get hurt he would be the best of all time

If's get you nowhere homie. Thats why when i look at penny i see a great player for two years, but nothing to get overworked about. Half of NT has to change their tampons when they hear the guys name
I don't get what you're saying. How is his career overrated? Nobody ever says he had a good career. "When he was healthy" is nota what if. You're making it seem as if Penny just had a couple great seasons. No. He was a great player, one of the best in those two seasons. That'sthe difference between him and a guy like Ander Miller. Penny didn't just have a great season he was a great player even if his prime was so short. I meanJordan is seen as the greatest of all time and Penny was on his level coming in to the league. Of course what ifs are gonna kick in for a guy who had hiscareer snatched like that. But it's not like he was some bum who people are saying would've blossomed into the next MJ. You have to be an incredibleplayer for those 2 years to leave such a lasting impression. Penny was an incredible player. Simple as that. He didn't have a great career, don't thinkI have heard anyone say otherwise anyway. But he was that good, so how could he be overrated?

No way. Penny was basically a taller Dwayne Wade and was a straight playmaker. Went to the Finals with Shaq and I think if he never got injured would have gonedown as one of the best to ever do it. Dude was like the 2nd coming of Magic and helped pave the way for the tall player who could handle the rock and createfor his team too.

Penny gave Jordan problems that were Dumars-esque during the mid 90s. I disagree with his statement simply because I'm biased since I grew upin Chicago. But his opinion definitely is a valid one.

Man I thought this Penny d-riding was done for a moment but it came back. Is it ever gonna stop? Sure he was one of the top players in 90s era for a couple ofyears, but better than Jordan? C'mon...

and back in the day, I hated Jordan , I was also one of those that prefer Penny

just like now you have Kobe haters
laugh.gif
, there were Jordan haters also(especially in ny)
laugh.gif
, you can't deny that fact

so I was excited when my "childhood idol" got traded to NY, even tho he wasn't the same old penny from orlando

I have always been one of the biggest Orlando Magic fans being in Saint Louis.............And i HATED M.J. when he played for the bulls........and even iwouldnt say that Penny was better than M.J. at anytime..........Maybe that year he didnt play, but thats the only time he had better ANYTHING than M.J.

I met alot of NBA stars (Kobe, Lebron, Melo, Wade, CP......) and the only person I wanted to take a picture with out of all of those people was Penny.
