Plane Crashes Into Building - Austin, Texas

While that is a specific problem he cites, clearly there are broader issues bothering him.

"I can say with a great degree of certainty that there has never been a politician cast a vote on any matter with the likes of me or my interests in mind. Nor, for that matter, are they the least bit interested in me or anything I have to say."

"How can any rational individual explain that white elephant conundrum in the middle of our tax system and, indeed, our entire legal system? Here we have a system that is, by far, too complicated for the brightest of the master scholars to understand. "

These at not the thoughts of a man unhappy simply with a part of the system, but the system/the country itself.

His bit about Wall Street tycoons offing themselves and how the inverse is true today is very interesting, though. Still, Rot In Pieces Stack!

True. I dont condone his actions at all and although I consider suicide a selfish means to disseminate a message, I cant help but look past his violent act and look at the bigger picture and its effect on our country.

I mean everyone knows that suicide is a cowardly way to run away from your problems, but which is more cowardly and selfish... Our politicians selling themselves out for personal gain or this man for his violent acts? I mean the actions of our politicians literally affect millions of people and you would be crazy to think that there aren't hundreds of thousands of Americans out there who are in similar situations that Joe Stack was placed in.

I feel that his message is noble, but I just can't come to terms with the way he chose to spread it.

Here are my thoughts on the situation in Austin:

Mr. Stack was obviously upset with big government, he was upset being in the middle class and subsequently being taxed to death by the federal government. Everyone who works legally in this country, whether you are poor, middle class or wealthy hates being taxed, but it's a way of life, and while many don't think we as Americans get anything for being taxed, think again.

He was also upset from what I understand due to this tax act that called for Software Engineers such as himself to basically be unable to set up their own business, and because of the competitive nature of the field, that would lead to him losing out on a client base.

The guy was obviously somewhat of a smart man, but what he did will not accomplish anything and just proves that he was indeed nothing but a failure. He couldn't live the life he wanted to basically because he was like the same people that bicker about the government making their lives so hard on a daily basis, and that is LAZY and INCOMPETENT. He failed at life because he wanted handouts and an easier life but was unwilling to work for it. He couldn't find employment in the Austin area as a software engineer? Why not take the plane that you crashed into the building, sell it and use that for an education for a different skill set that would get you work?

This dude was living larger than most of America if he had his own plane, which aren't cheap. Dude was an EMOTIONAL TRAINWRECK and most likely lost everything due to his lack of work ethic. He was mad that the Catholic Church got a tax exemption? He was mad that at taxes and the IRS?

Taxes suck, but it's no need to kill yourself or worse, try and kill innocent individuals making a living either. Maybe there are conspiraces with the federal government, but guess what everybody else wakes up everyday, works their !!+#* off, go home and do it again the next day. You don't complain, you just do it. And that is truly the problem with Americans today, if you look at the past of this country, people did what they had to do to survive, they didn't be a little girl about it and blame others.

Guy was nothing a but a coward and I'm glad he offed himself, he doesn't deserve to live in America.

This is really interesting.  I wish I had the time to read through his entire note.  But I'm just going to say from what I did read is this this man's views are by no means rare.

How many NTers feel they are well represented by their government?  How many NTers feel like there taxes go anywhere?  How many NTers agree on our foreign policy? etc. etc.

This man's views are not as out there as one might think.  It's just that the average American is kept in control and far from revolt by keeping their eyes glued on the tube waiting for American Idol to come on.

This man refused that route, and it lead him to a seemingly illogical conclusion.  Or is it?  His letter is spreading like wildfire.

Very interesting though.  I plan on following this closely.  And I don't expect this to die down either.  This will have an impact.

Crazy.  That letter was a good read.  You can't say you don't relate to some of the things.  I know old people that eat dog/cat food because it's all they can afford.  And we are one of the leading nations?!  Crashing a plane into the building of government agents who indirectly caused his pain though was over the line.  Dude had a purpose though.

Damn they're saying that 1 of the workers is reported to have died
smh.gif
Can't believe some of yall are actually defending this fool. Get outta here with this "innocent people die everyday." What if your relative or friend happened to be one of the people who died in that building? Would it still be ok since this guy is trying to prove a point about the government and people need to die for the point to get across??

Right, because janitors, security guards, and cafeteria workers don't work in  government offices. Not to mention, he could have killed somebody in the same position he found himself in. Somebody who was in the office only to argue an audit.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with his message. But evoking the most horrific terrorist attack in American history is surely not the way to go about spreading it.

I don't believe Churche's should get tax exemptions.  They are "for profit" institutions, but that is an argument for another day.  Seperation of church and state.

I disagree with you completely Polo, it's like you're saying, that's the way it is let's keep bending over and taking it in the %@! while Uncle Sam rams us with no KY.

Excessive spending by the fat cats in government.  The increasing gap between the rich and the poor.  The middle class consistently getting screwed.

Banks robbing people blind and then the bottom fell out only to have our tax dollars bail them out so they can continue screwing tax payers.

People feel a serious disconnect with the government, it's innefficiency, it's greed.

Everyone thought their voices were going to be heard when Obama got elected, sorry, just another puppet on strings.

I don't agree with the actions this man took, but I don't blame him either.

The system is $!*##@ up and all I got to see is how much Uncle Sam takes from my paycheck only to turn on the morning news to hear constant reports about budget crisis.

What if this was planned? What if this guy was used to make all the people that believe in what he is saying in his letter look like crazy people?

You mean demonize people with Socialist beliefs? They could have done that without crashing a plane into a building.

I understand why you disagree with me. I understand that you, along with countless other American's are fed up with the governmental spending in this nation and the current fiscal crisis we are facing.

It's not the the public sector either, it's the private sector as well. Greed in this country is way out of control, but that's what a capitalistic soceity entitles, I totally agree 100%. Being the definiton of middle class, I truely understand that the common working man does indeed get screwed by this counrty, but just as this man stated in his "manifesto", there isn't much anyone can do about it. Taxes are apart of life, and even though the middle class gets screwed the most, everybody gets screwed.

This guy is not saying anything new. Everyone knew were this man was coming from, he was fed up with the way the government leaches of the lives of innocent working individuals who live their lives as truthful and honest as they can. However, it's a fact of life that we must pay taxes. It's also a fact that our children's teachers are paid through that money as are the police and firefighters who responded to this very building in Austin. Our taxes to go the common good, and while we may pay alot to get these services, atleast we live in a nation where we have the ability to have this services at our fingertips and can use them whenever we damn well please.

This man was unhappy because he was your typical individual who either A.) felt that bashing the government was the thing to do because of his personal problems or B. wanted to be seen as a "revoluntionary" in a time when many Americans want to be just that.

I hate the fact that people like Mr. Stack would actually committ acts of violence against people who are literally just like him, upset with what was going on and who are being taxed everyday and most likely struggling to make end's meet.

Don't blame the government for your troubles, blame yoursel. I've seen the poorest of the poor become multi millionaires. I've seen the richest people go flat out broke. I've seen middle class families both live comfortably and struggle at the same time.

This is the United States of America, and while alot of people living here feel it's one big nightmare, ask anyone in the world where it is they would like to live, and it's right here.

Mr. Stack did this today because of his personal problems, he %@+$*#! set his house on fire with his CHILD in it.

This guy had no finanical problems, dude had a plane! You ever been to a private airport with cessnas and private jets? Lot's of money.  Not my fault this guy lost his retirement savings, should have diversified his portfolio before buying that plane. Millions of American's have lost their money, they aren't using planes and a "manifesto" to get their point across.

This guy is the same as the 9/11 hijackers. His intent was to cause mass casualties against Americans and the government because of his viewpoints against them and how they go "against" their own personal beliefs.

Anyone who supports this guy or even vouches for his actions needs to check this citizenship, because it's pathetic to even justify this activity. If you can't see through his personal financial problems and the fact that he wants to blame Uncle Sam is sad to say the least.

The dude did that already when he started his own Software company. He was pissed off that he was getting robbed of his hard work.

^ THIS.

There is no justification for flying a freaking plane into a building full of people.
This is politically motivated. This is terrorism.

Agree with his suicide note all you want. This is not how business is taken care of in America.
