Pokemon Go (ios and android) - TEAM ROCKET

That has to be one of the worst visuals I've ever seen. Seems like it was created to purposely obfuscate.

All of the Pokemon types have counters, I am not sure how effective is is in Pokemon GO yet.

Here are a few I remember from my red/blue days

Water > Fire
Plant > Water
Water > Rock
Rock > Fire
Plant > Water

Plant bruh. My childhood is triggered.

Really? Because if this is true, then it's all about luck finding the right Pokemon with the right attacks. I have to believe there's more to it than that.

I suspect the height and weight of the Pokemon also has some effect.

based on my experience with gym battles the attacks are very important

I have a nidoqueen, scyther, pinser and golduck in the lvl 700s and my golduck is by far the strongest

I went head to head with a cp1000 jolteon and took it out and golduck is weak against lightning

different pokemon will have different elemental attacks if jolteon woulda used an electric attack you woulda been screwed but since its auto and they normally just use the basic attack the odds were it wasnt an electric base attack

height and weight so far just determines how strong the pokemon will be. CP & HP

So how does gym work man? Do I have to actually attack and defend or is it done automatically?

This is confusing me. LoL

I might go to a gym today and get waxed just to see what's all about.

My max level pokemon is a damn Pinsir CP 383. SMH. I'm almost level 10.

I never paid for any add ons in my life but I feel like it is necessary to upgrade my bag

Like someone said, a lightening special attack would send your Goldduck in the red immediately.

I def thought about upgrading my bag. I had to sacrifice a lot of potions to make room for pokeballs.

each pokemon has 2 attacks. the first one is the basic attack and the second one is a special attack. all pokemon can only use their second attack until their special meter is full. so its not so much random use and more that they havent built up enough meter.

I did that yesterday, I'm not battling yet so I have a stock for of revives and potions and couldn't even hit Pokestops for balls when everything else was full. I just started using berries and missing on purpose to deplete my numbers. There's about 20 Pokestops within a mile from where I work in all directions so I'll never have to go w/o, and that's not counting the bus stops on my way home.

I'm tempted to evolve my Drowsee that's a cp303 just to use this lucky egg I got and boost my exp to level up. I need stronger Pokemon to battle the gyms around me.

think about it though when your fighting you at least have 2 or 3 bars before the fight ends cuz they do spam the attack button... its random he got lucky

thats completely true. i just dont think he realized he wasnt getting hit with a special and assumed all the attacks were weak

Gyms go by a prestige system.

If the gyms controlled by another team, you have to fight and beat the trainers in them to bring down their prestige. If there are a lot of leaders/trainers in a gym, it could take a while and plenty of /revives/potions.

So you fight and every win brings the gyms prestige down, if you use a lower CP against the gyms pokemon the more prestige you take down. For every 2,000 prestige you remove, it also removes a trainer in the gym.

Keep doing it until all are gone and it becomes vacant then you can place your own pokemon in there and it becomes your gym.

In this scenario, you use 6 Pokemons to take them out and might have to fight multiple times depending how many are in there.

If the gym is already controlled by your team color then you increase prestige by "training" which means fighting the trainers in there and winning. The same goes prestige-wise, the lower the CP the more prestige you earn and level up the gym. Every 2,000 levels up a gym and every level allows an extra gym leader.

You do this to place your own Pokemon in there.

In this scenario, you only use one Pokemon.

Once you takeover a gym, do not forget to quickly claim your rewards at the shop (PokeCoins & StarDust). The rwards multiplies depending on how many gyms you occupy when you claim them and I believe you can occupy up to ten gyms.

You couldn't fish a gyarados in the first gen even with a superrod.

I used to buy him for 500$ before the first cave in the pokemart :hat

Kind of sucks electric was super effective because he's water and ice was x4 because he's a dragon type.
gyrados is water/flying. he's affected normally by ice but x4 to electric. if he was water/dragon he'd be affected normally by electric because dragons resist electricity.

unless i read what you were saying wrong lol

nah you right.

i got mistaken.

x4 electricity is still a bummer in gen one.

shatterkneesinc shatterkneesinc Goldduck isn't even that strong. I've seen some really strong Pokemon at gyms around the NYC area. The attackers probably didn't use the specials. Goldduck isn't even Tier S.

Special Attacks makes you immune to sttacks and if it's someone like Jolteon who is very quick with the attacks, you could get hit 2-3 times while the animation finishes up the special attack. It can't be dodged but you could be KO'd by the time you pull off your special especially if it's something like HyperBeam that require one giant bar to use.

The fighting definitely needs some tweaking.

Once PvP comes and you have to be face to face to fight someone, I could just see some real life fight going on.

I think that tier list is based leveling efficiency

Theres really no metrics on how CPs work and I am only giving examples from my personal experience

For example both my pokemons are lvl 700ish
My golduck have decent base attack and a strong special attack, what I do is spam water gun and then nuke with hydro pump
My scyther only does 3 basic damage and does a 30 damage for the special, but the special takes less time to recharge than a strong special attack

I do notice there that everytime a special attack is performed it takes time to animate it so theres the opportunity cost in that

My Golduck is without a doubt my most productive fighter

But then again we are battling computers so who knows
