\\ Post Your Car vol. Been a minute //

I'm torn right now.

At the moment my only car is a 2000 MX-5.  Thing's a peach.  Still has less than 50K on the odometer and gives me no grief.  However, I'm starting my first RN job after I graduate on the 15th of this month.  I'm gonna be considered management at my job, so I'll be expected to show up to work regardless of weather.  Given that I live on Long Island, I'm gonna need something AWD.

I'm undecided on whether I want to keep my MX-5 and buy a used compact pickup (Ford Ranger 4x4/Mazda B-Series, Toyota Tacoma) for the winter months, or sell the MX-5 and just go ahead and put a down payment on a new STi.

Bear in mind...money isn't a huge concern with me.  I've done a good job of saving money while I was in nursing school, I have money coming in from tuition reimbursement (already paid my tuition out-of-pocket, so I'm just getting the money back at this point), and I'll be making more than I had anticipated when I start my new job.  It's just a battle between being super-sensible and buying a car that I've wanted since I turned 17.

Help.

Have you ever tried snow tires on the mx5? I've had a is300 and a 95 Nissan 240sx which are both rwd with blizzaks mounted and did fantastic in Connecticut winters.

Nothing beats my current awd with blizzaks but I had no issues with the rwd cars with the same blizzaks

I don't think I could ever bring myself to spend more than $40K on a car.

Let's not go crazy now.

Ram truck?

Part of me almost wants to wait a bit to see what's good with the Focus RS.

The other part of me realizes that it would be a big gamble, and that I don't drink Monster energy drinks and/or wear bulky DCs laced like this:

Suspension? U gettin srs wit dis thang papi

What kinda suspension does it come with stock?

This reminds me i saw some fox suspension off a raptor for sale on craigslist. Dude asking 1500. I kinda wanna buy it for my truck but then i cant do any construction stuff on that suspension soo im not sure...

I like the C7, but that's about as far as my interest in American cars goes.

I'm happy with my crackerjack toys.

Ram truck?
No.

Just ask yourself if you really want to drive a Ford Focus, as an "enthusiasist car".

It could be 500bhp and all the cloned STI stuff, I would never buy one.
Yeah i feel u on this.

At the end of the day its still a focus

Just how at the end of a day an evo is still a lancer

I feel sorry for you if you have a $40k budget and no idea what you want.

STi's are great cars but there's just so much more you could get for that money if you don't mind buying used.

It would take me a long *** time to decide. Kind of a good problem to have though, just take your time and do your research!

Why do I feel like you didn't read my initial post?

I have an idea of what I want, and I can certainly narrow my options down to having a few key characteristics.  AWD, reliable, and sporty are at the top of the list.  Also don't feel buying a car with high mileage.  I'm not opposed to buying used, I'm just not looking to buy a used performance-luxury or pure sports car.  I'd like some practicality.

I narrowed it down the STi because it's a good mix of performance, reliability, and practicality for my situation.  It's either that, or I go extra-sensible and keep my current car and cop a used 4x4 compact pickup for around $10K or less.

I've entertained the idea, but I don't like the look of the car, don't like the fact that it has less power than the STi, and I REALLY don't like that it only comes in automatic transmission.

Also don't like the lack of options offered when building your own.

Speaking of DC shoes and Monster energy, this dude is obsessed with Ken Block.  Made his base model Ford Fiesta look like Block's rally car.  Underneath all the graphics it's a bone stock Fiesta

VW's and German cars in general are severely underrated
when it comes to power numbers. A tune alone will put the R
at 360-380hp. And u can order the manual this summer.

If u do settle on the STi, make sure u order the 2016 with the
updated infotainment. Looks so much better than the '15 head
unit & no fake carbon fiber.

So what's the difference between launch edition and regular? Does it have anything to help it actually launch harder?
Edit: I googled it even tho it's frowned upon to use google for anything and it's the same just with some seat inserts short shifter and ugly gold rims? Sound about right?

It was called a launch edition because it was launching the new bodystyle STI, it has nothing to do with launching off the line :lol

Damn, this whole time I thought it meant it had a special type of launch control or something.
