\\ Post Your Car vol. Been a minute //

Incase anyone is involved or interested in smaller builds, I thought it would be obvious that I may be able to steer anybody in the right direction as it will be much less involved and have a different total build price.

Sorry for posting the info, no offense taken.

Or just get a smaller turbo and see what happens.

Just research in what that motor responds better to.

You'll definitely want something as tiny as a 45 mm turbo for that small amount of boost, as the lag will be almost non-existent.

I have 7k left on my CR-Z, the car has about 65k miles and is a 2011, no probs what so ever. Was thinking of letting it go and then getting another car as its too small for me and I want to dump it before I have to do a clutch or the hybrid battery dies. Should I just pay it off this year and get a car next year? Thoughts, thanks.

I honestly HATE putting gauges on a car when they're not needed.

I'll be picking up an AEM failsafe wideband tomorrow, as well as placing an order on an Innovagete Engine Oil/Temp dual read gauge, Innovage Water temp/Voltage dual read gauge as my cluster dual gauge pod kind of blocks off my water temp, along with some ARP extended studs for when I mount my wheels. Water temp/voltage gauge will be mounted low next to my cigarette lighter under my head unit/middle console close to my shifter. As that will be the one that will need the least monitoring. I wish AEM made dual read gauges, their new X-series line gauges are so thin and supposedly has better software that provide more accurate and quicker readings.

It looks like the only AEM X-series will be my 60 psi boost gauge (they also offer a 0-35psi, though) :( since they never upgraded their failsafe to an X-series because they probably couldn't fit all the hardware in that small housing.
Won't be installing any of them for a bit, though.

If you're really interested in another vehicle, I would say buy something that you'll enjoy being in it every single day if it's your DD (as long as you know you can afford it regardless of maintenance and repairs).

What were you looking into purchasing after?

A spirited car I have polar opposites a newer STi or Honda Accord. I just want a sedan, I don't intend to mod. If it were up to me I'd love to own a stock Evo IX, but that's a fairy tale.

Lt1 with the iron block, punched to 383. to make 600hp not bad

could also go with a newer gen chevy, the 4.8 LR4

could make close to 500hp easy with heads, intake other bolt ons and itll still be na for instant feel

then add a turbo for roughly 700hp

An STi is a marvel of engineering, but its base price is 35k and it's far from luxury. Some people may prefer to use 35k for a used luxury vehicle and can get a really good deal on some so that's a very good option as well, just like always be well informed all any car's repair and maintenance costs. If you're ok with spending that on a Subaru then there are a lot of reasons as to why this car is incredible. Stock, however, it was dissapointing to me power-wise, everything else I fell inlove with it and have been in love from the moment I drove it out the lot.

I've owned an E92 m3, '08 Aston Martin DB9, and misc DDs for work/school/errands/anything DD and I can say that I have never enjoyed driving any of them as much as my modded STi. But again, there are many choices out there so just be sure of what you're purchasing as you can have a stock car with much more power for the same price, it will just be used and older or like some kind of brand new American car with a general V8 that should be making V8 power.

The STi IMO you buy for its potential if you've been exposed to fast cars 90% of your entire driving life.

This is a great place to ask members in here on recommendations as this group is very diverse in the kind of cars they own and/or like. So you will receive many opinions and recommendations. If you're dead set on an STi, shoot me a PM, but I would highly recommend you ask around A LOT and make your decision then.

Word man or add an ls6 cam and call it a day :lol

But really though the 4.8 is slept on as far as snatching them up from the junk yard . Hot rod did a build on one that they thought was a 5.3

Put two turbos on it and made 1,000 and change hp with stock internals. So I can imagine if they went all out with it.

Good post. I test drove one back in 2006 and always admired STis was never a fan of the boxer engine layout. I owned an Evo VIII RS before and always loved the feel of AWD. Given the Ford RS lackluster reviews I'm more drawn to the STi. I make an okay living as a RN, I know tires will be changed. I used to be a mechanic so basic maintenance doesn't bother me. I feel you guys on the thought of driving something you enjoy. My current car now I just drive and don't get no joy, but then again I only go to work and back for the most part which is like a 15 mile round trip commute. Meanwhile I still need to put a rock on my girls finger. Do you guys even recommend buying a STi used? Sorry for the long post.

Hmmm $37k a lot of choices

ill always steer someone towards american muscle. my pick would be a 415hp V8 Chevy SS with the manual.

it will be an older luxury vehicle but you'll need to purchase it in good shape, or just an american car. Idk, I just think your usual (to that model) american V8 goes into them when I hear domestic. Nothing complicated like turbo engines come to mind, although there are plenty but no actual "tuner-like" cars.

Used only if you can get a sick deal on it according to its condition and year. Definitely do a PPI.

Reason why only if it's a sick deal is that they hold their value so well, you might as well by brand new and be the first and last driver, since you'll never want to get rid of it (most people that do is that they encounter mechanical parts like engine failure or other failures and realize they couldn't really afford the car, since you automatically should account for these expenses prior to buying). If you don't mod then you'll be covered by your warranty which is a huge benefit of buying new as well if you don't plan on modding.

My engine could completely go to **** right now, but I have the ability to get it back on the road as soon as it takes to install a new block.

Pretty much every part of me. But going built is far
from simply getting your block built.

Who knows, maybe one day.
