While the incident did make me look at him sideways...I was a big basketball fan as a kid and my guys were AI, Jordan, Kobe, and Ray Allen.
Kobe had a great comeback. His PR specialist who suggested the Mamba persona did good. I personally think he either grew significantly from the incident...whether he did it or not. Or learned how to cover his tracks better.
Also having all girls probably changed him too. lol

There is no doubt that he may have grown from that incident, as it probably gave him insight in regard to what Black people face on the regular. To be accused of something that you do not think that you've done, will make you see things a bit differently, especially at the risk of losing it all. If that had happened in present tense, with the #METOO awareness, he would have been done for.

Whether or not you believe in the rape allegations, I don’t think 2 days after his TRAGIC death is the right time to speak on the topic. He didn’t die at 80 after living a full life span. Imagine you died at 40 and people were grieving and a friend is like “he wasn’t a bad dude but do y’all remember when he got arrested for drunk driving?”
clearly not comparing to 2, but majority of us have done regrettable things in life and IF he did do it, he did all he could to be a better person after. If you don’t forgive him for what he did that’s your choice but don’t cast a black shadow over his mourning by fans.
If you wanna discuss his transgressions make your own thread about Kobe being a bad guy and say what you like.

He wasn’t found guilty of anything. Give it a rest. They already had the case two decades ago. It’s easy to play prosecution to a dead man with no lawyer. Your rando verdict determined from you googling it one time amounts to nothing but a smear of a man who just died with his daughter.

I went against my own city that year. I was in the Bahamas with a #8 lakers home jersey with my whole family at my uncle wedding. They wanted to disown me. My young 14 year old self and 1 older dude vs like 60 people. And it was the game the lakers won when Kobe hit the shot. Good times.

This exact same thing happened happened in the Nipsey thread in General. You can't mourn a hero without the thread going left. You can't mourn a tragic death of someone whom you watched your entire young and adult life dominate. It's impossible on here. I had to un watch that thread and go back to the official Nipsey thread in music to reconnect with folks who are paying their respects. General

I went to the mall yesterday and went to all the footstores and asked about any kobe's, the employees told me that they were not instructed to pull any kobe products or heard from any higher-ups intentions to do so. Some stores simply sold out on the day of the tragedy. A footlocker by me still had kobes but was only the AD NXT. I was never a fan of any of the models after the 11th for obvious reasons so I did not buy it.

Nike stopping the selling of kicks seems fishy. Stopping resellers is a silly reason imo. Of course the public wants to buy items to show support so why stop them? Money makes people do crazy things.
