Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Top song of the decade? 07-17? That's an interesting discussion. Would love to see a list of options.

some contenders:

Flashing Lights - Kanye
Empire State of Mind - Jay Z
Marvins Room - Drake
****** in Paris - WTT
March Madness - Future
Lil Wayne - A Milli

Jail made Bobby Shmurda seem way bigger than he really was. Most people didn't care about his other songs or care to hear more from him.

BMF was a smash. That's a good one.

Hard In Da Paint was huge and changed the sound of rap.

N's In Paris was a good one like someone said

Black and Yellow was huge

Kanye West's Mercy

I meant to add that. I don't listen to Future but that song was everywhere. That other new joint he got with the flutes is serious too. March Madness is definitely in the convo.

Jay Rock verse on Money Trees one of the best verses in the past 10 years.

Shmurda ain't have no talent. He a product of the Internet era. Chief Keef is a better rapper with better charisma. Chief>Shmurda

**** even in recent memory 'The Story of O.J.' can be added to that '10 year' conversation. That song raised a lot of commentary on different issues

depending on what yall mean by hardest. also assuming we mean 2010-2019.

aside from march madness the only tracks you'll be able to play now until the end of the decade and still make clubs and parties nationwide go crazy.

march madness, earned it, faneto are the top 3. out of those three it can be debated. IMO of course.

the others are cool but they wont get an instantaneous crazy reaction

oh and this too

if july 2015 never happened this would have been bigger than it was

Biggest song, biggest impact, dope song. So pretty much your whole list is out of here.

depending on how old you are you might not realize how foolish of a statement you made by disqualifying any of those three for not having impact.

biggest impact would probably give it to meek that has been a club staple since it came out. i shouldnt even have to explain how big that song is.

most kickbacks/house parties in the past 3 years have probably ended because of faneto and/or earned it id put money on it. once that **** come on ****** just start jumping around acting a fool fights starting and its actually kind of annoying because all the girls get out the way and it just becomes a testosterone fest.

dope is subjective and what is "biggest" song in the 2010's? if you mean mainstream/chart wise that would give it to some type of dance craze or back 2 back or some other drake song. and im sure thats not what ppl wanna name the "hardest" song of the 2010's.

although now that its brought up objectively back 2 back has to be in the discussion. that also is an entire room sings along type track at clubs.

Outside of March Madness, your songs you listed (including Back 2 Back) aren't nowhere near the other songs listed in here but carry on

in terms of what though?

aside from "dope" (which again is personally subjective and has little relevance on decade lists like this), the only other metric i can think of is mainstream/chart success and lol @ dreams and nightmares intro not being a big song because radio program directors couldnt use it to sell products
