Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Wasn't Puff messing with crips out in LA for protection? And crips were in to at the casino and Orlando Anderson in Vegas? Was that Biggie/Pac related or just a natural rivalry and had to do with the chain snatching?

Maybe Suge blamed Puff to starting that situation what led to Pac's death in the first place?

or maybe it was to cover up Pac's shooting.

Big's shooting never made sense to me. It was too organized to be some crazed Tupac fan. I always thought Puff knew something. As in knows who did it.

I believe Gene's story....

That part when he was like "THEY SHOOTIN AT BIG NEM!!"

Yup. And the driver for whatever reason thought it would be OK to stop at every red light after he was shot
Didn't Puff force Big to go out that night? I thought I saw that from their bodyguard who gave his side of the story on YouTube.

It doesn't seem like any elaborate set up.

What I took from Gene's videos is that Puff was smelling himself and on that "no negative energy" tip when Gene tried to tell him it was pressure for Bad Boy out there. Gene even tried telling BIG himself and BIG blew him off. Also he made it seem like Puff had promised someone at Vibe he'd have BIG at that party. Seems like Puff was doing too much and not thinking smart but I wouldn't say he set him up. The Bad Boy movement would have been 10x more serious if they still had BIG going into the 2000's along with Lox, Ma$e, Total, 112, etc. Never understood the angle that Suge or Puff had more to gain from their respective artists in death.

Puff just thought rules didn't apply to him. Although a lot of the small coincidences like them stopping at the light, the killer being parked at the building beside the light waiting for them essentially, the guy in Blue NOI attire walking around the parking garage before they leave Vibe...make you raise your eyebrow. But again it makes no sense for Puff to kill his only superstar at that point.

They really shouldn't have been out there. BIG getting on the radio and rapping Long Kiss Goodnight on the radio was crazy.

All that Gene stuff just made me look at Puff funnier in the light. Rushing BIG out there just so he could get paid for that appearance. Taxing his own artists to be in their videos. Wild.

I remember Quik saying he got questioned in BIG's murder, then Gene mentioned him in the interview had me tripping. Said Quik was on his cellphone immediately after BIG got hit, talking about "they said they was gone get em."

And Salli Richardson fine *** really got around in the 90s, she was Pac girl at one point, then she was with Diddy out in LA when BIG got killed.

Lmao he'd charge them to put his Benz in their videos.

Not sure if scumbag-ish or brilliantly finessing the label's money. Force yourself on to artists songs and videos to become a star/personality and then charge them (thru album budget) for your likeness and car

Suge, Puff and everyone else in the industry at that time knows exactly what happened to Pac, Big and Eazy... End of story.

That exchange between Nebraska and Russ was funny passive aggressive shade throwing between 2 sensitive people. Nebraska's whole vibe CHANGED and she was throwing them darts

I actually I understood her. Because they would move on to another topic, and he kept being catty and petty. Then when she would address it, he would get defensive as if she was overreacting and emotional. It was a cycle. It was immature. Then he would contradict what he just said 15 minutes prior.

swipe for the whole list

Logic performed at the VMAS recently right? Saw that he also had his song skyrocket into the top 10 based upon that performance.

While the topic of teen angst, sexuality, depression and suicide is a serious issue that needs to be addressed...the song isn't all that good. It's a clear reach for a "song about something"....that white people will hold up as a standard rap. It's like Macklemore "same love". I expect it to win tons of awards and acclaim. Even though Logic has some black in him....he still benefits from that white privilege of comfort due to his appearance and demeanor. It's much easier to receive a message on this issue for THAT audience than "The blacker the berry"....which made people in that audience uncomfortable.

With that said....Logic'a message and speech was powerful. Need more **** like that in general. Seems like. Good dude. :pimp:.

Dudes always clown on women and girls when in reality, guys ***** and moan a lot too.

It's funny when complex first put that clip up cats was celebrating the fact Nadeska finally got "put in her place." ppl watched the whole exchange and realized son was being just as emotional.

I didn't even peep the ep just read the comments, but ill definitely be tuning in tomorrow because Joe about to have a field day with this.

A lot of it is sexism, man. A lot of people and men assume that a woman is the one who is going to be the emotional one in a situation. And because Nebraska isn't that likeable, at least in this format. You can see her emotions and what she's thinking always.

He was playing off it with him playing down his comments, taking shots and then when she wanted to address it directly to clear the air. He'd comment on her being emotional. People will comment on the reaction and not what initiated it.

He did the same thing with Ak. He waited until the end to comment on him not posting his stuff. He had every opportunity to mention that earlier. Ak was blindsided. Ak thought he had a new friend. That's why I said they need to start moving as a team. They should have put that corny dude in his place.

Kid thought he was going to come up there and have a viral moment, and he did. They need to move as a team to prevent that from happening. It's good for Complex, but bad for them. They need to watch their own brands.
