Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

I think 12-15 tracks is ideal. There are waaay more good longer albums than there are shorter ones.

Long projects do not equal more streams, if the songs are trash, nobody will revisit an album thats not good, vs the usual 7-10 songs people keep off an album anyway, <10 songs leaves less room for error and you can get your point across more efficiently

Also someone may know better than me but I think theres financially a downside to having over 9 tracks on an album

So whats the difference between multiple projects or one complete one per say? The songs are getting out regardless

People are less likely to listen to a project with more songs repettively. Repetive streaming is also what they are after. You are less likely to run back a 20 track album. But you are more likely to multiple projects from a rapper you like.

seems like artists were getting more money before streaming

That's because how much a stream is worth is determined by the labels and companies loaning their music to these streaming companies. Also because I don't believe many artists include in there deals or even bring up percentages regarding what they should get if their album streams this or that amount

10-14 songs. 35-50 mins. That's good with me.

Daytona was super short, he coulda added 2 or 3 joints on it but it did feel completed. He rapped his *** off there so I can't really complain.

I need 10-13 songs.

So much of the music today is the same song over and over. Why not put the same song on an album 20 times. These kids are so high or stupid, they don't even know what they're hearing.

:lol

Aquemini, The Fix, Low End Theory, Enter the 36 Chambers, Me Against the World, The Chronic, and Ready to Die all had between 12-17 songs a piece. All certified classics.

This generation just has ADD. Plus, like someone already said, a lot of these artist today do make the same sounding songs.

12-17 is a good length. Dude mentioned 17 and up I believe. I'm cool on a project with more than 16 songs. They just don't tend to be that good.

Meh.
Happy new year nawghty

Whether it's a double album or short album as long as the music is great that's all I care about, I'm gonna bump it. I listen to All Eyez On Me just as much as illmatic.

I laugh when I hear people now say stuff like "this album is too long, how am I ever gonna listen to it?". If you a fan of somebody that shouldn't be a problem. I'm not really a fan of Drake's music so I skipped over his double album. I **** with the Dream I listened to his 3 triple album over 3 days. It wasn't overwhelming or hard for me.

Listening to a 45 track album would be overwhelming for most. That's 3 hours of music.

I think that's the part nobody wants to do. I want to hear a complete project in one sitting.

45 tracks? I’m good. That’s what I want from individuals in a year :lol.

For real,
I don’t like 7 track albums, I loved Daytona but wish pusha made it longer

I've made a challenge to catch up on all the music i missed last year.

IF i actually have some history of the artist & like them i'm gonna give the whole project a spin, if it's a rapper who i find repetitive or not original enough i'm literally gonna skim through the album see what production i rock with the most & take those.

There's just no way i'm sitting through hours upon hours of music from *****s who only care to do the bare minimum when creating.

I skim through everything now and a homie either has to tell me to go take a deep listen or something gotta catch my ear to take a deep listen.

I cant remember the last project this year I played front to back after Kids See Ghost and thats because of the Cudi drought.
