Rap About Nothing: Hip Hop Chat Thread

Hip Hop was never intended to "dominate charts" or make records labels (white folks) rich.

The only folks who believe Hip Hop is "dying" are those who never appreciated its origins in the first place.

This is two separate arguments

It was also supposed to be creative, talent based and not copying one another.

So you can't try to say it wasn't meant to sell, and then ignore all the other stuff it violates.

Mick Jenkins is a name I’ve seen for years but never listened to a full project until The Patience. I’m not sleeping anymore, checking his older stuff now.

STRONG Rap LP of the Year candidate.

Picturing Teyana Taylor playing a role for that time period is gonna be hilarious. I can’t see her doing that at all.

Same. Had my lil JBL speaker thumpin in the gym  . Ran through a few more of his projects and yeah, Mick has one hell of a discography over the past decade.

I didn’t check out til The Patience, dude is a beast. His voice reminds me of Obie Trice at times.
