RIP George Floyd

de blasio really has to go. so does cuomo. both of them have been purposefully looking the other way while continuing to give all the benefit of doubt to the nypd despite their violent behavior this past week. they're a huge part of this situation as nypd is the biggest kkkop gang in the country

This is extremely wild and true.

A. Cuomo can stay. He’d navigated this whole thing as best as anyone could. Our current Mayor needs to go. He rather train at the YMCA than tackle ongoing issues.

12 is a new slang - I doubt any of these younger generation even heard of an Adam-12. Hell I’m 40 never heard of or seen that movie - let along it to be associated to the slang “12”.

A show/movie back in 1968.

I’ve always heard ‘Dem Boyz’, ‘5-0’ and in the lastest years, ‘12’.

I dont know of any NYer that likes De Blasio.
He's indecisive and owes way too many favors. There's a reason why he came out of nowhere and ended up as Mayor of NYC. He can't really make certain decisions without Coumo flexing on him telling him he can't make that decision.

Cuomo is the opposite of Deblasio. He is decisive, but very warmongering and is more focused on his family and their legacy in Politics. If he really cared about the state and its citizens, he would have had the police who resigned from the emergency task force terminated completely after they resigned from it in solidarity for their co-workers who were suspended for bad policing. His proposal to have all cases against officers investigated by the state AG is interesting.

Not everyone grew up with cable.

12 been around since the late 90's / early 00's.

Swagger is even older...

Shakespeare is often held up as a master neologist, because at least 500 words (including critic, swagger, lonely and hint) first appear in his works – but we have no way of knowing whether he personally invented them or was just transcribing things he’d picked up elsewhere.

It’s generally agreed that the most prolific minter of words was John Milton, who gave us 630 coinages, including lovelorn, fragrance and pandemonium. Geoffrey Chaucer (universe, approach), Ben Jonson (rant, petulant), John Donne (self-preservation, valediction) and Sir Thomas More (atonement, anticipate) lag behind. It should come as no great surprise that writers are behind many of our lexical innovations. But the fact is, we have no idea who to credit for most of our lexicon.

Lots of people use Drip / Sauce.

...but how many of know where it came from?

Drip / Sauce =

PS:

Google aint in the streets.

ONLY Black people can do this...its generated from our unique experience in the world.

Listen CLOSELY to when Gucci says "No meat, just sauce".

Lots of us can relate to the pain in that statement...from our unique experience.

Its surface level understanding to most but for those of us that live it - our slang has a etymology that reflects our suffering.

Books are written by the winners but songs are written by the losers.

“History is always written by the winners. When two cultures clash, the loser is obliterated, and the winner writes the history books-books which glorify their own cause and disparage the conquered foe. As Napoleon once said, 'What is history, but a fable agreed upon?”

― Dan Brown, The Da Vinci Code

The whole world dances to our music...and rewrites our books.

12 is southern slag for police that originates from ATL sometime in the '90s before being used on a national level, the first time i remember reading the term twelve is from the classic Goodie Mob album Still Standing released in '98 it had ATL slang terms directly from the booklet called Khujo's Slumtionary.
Twelve - Petty officers (e.g. "Ma cuz 'nem was apprehended by twelve yesterday.")
Red Dogs - drug enforcement Agency. Certified Robbing Crew. (e.g. "the red dogs were injured during the drug raid.")

MJ came a long way in the past few weeks since the last dance was filmed

His mom got in his ear again the same way she did when she insisted that he take that first meeting with Nike.

So many people would be lost or dead without their mothers.

Mike could literally be Kareem Abdul Jabbar right now if not for his mother. Writing books that very few people care about, looking for forgiveness 30+ after the massive platform he had evaporated.

Kidnapping.

Setting up to squash the rebellion by any means

this country was using gas chambers before that guy in Germany had any political aspirations. They’re still legal in some states. We been down this road before and history has shown us where this goes.

Folks better get their minds right.
