At least Minny isn't asking for picks or the Maloof's personal favorite player..... cash considerations

not so sure why we hire and defensive minded coach and then get rid of all of our players who could play defense
Yes that TyrekeTyreke who only played defense when he wanted to?
Why Mbah A Moute? Dude is our best defender and knows how to play off the ball. would've rather seen Thornton or Salmons gone
Tyreke, Tony Douglas, Cole Aldrich. not that Douglas or Aldrich were big minute guys or anthing, but they COULD play defense and they were cheap. and we definitely could use that rebounding/shot blocking at the backup C that Aldrich would have brought us.And other than Mbah, who would these so called defensive players be?not so sure why we hire and defensive minded coach and then get rid of all of our players who could play defense

The thing with these situations we have to remember is that a team has to want something we have for us to get rid of them. From what I've been hearing, it sounds like Mbah a Moute was the piece Minnesota really wanted for them to give up Williams. It's usually not as simple as just throwing another player in the deal either since the contracts have to be fairly similar unless they're willing to give up a draft pick in there. Considering how inconsistent Thornton is, I don't think teams are jumping over themselves to take him.I'm not going to knock Derrick Williams because his time has been limited and he's been outplayed for most of his young career. But the impression I got when Vivek took over and hired Mike Malone is that they wanted to rebuild the team starting with guys who go about themselves professionally, play within the scheme, and give good hard effort defensively night in and night out. I've never known Mbah a Moute to even lack one of those qualities, whereas Marcus Thornton hasn't been quite the citizen that Mbah a Moute is. That's what puzzles me the most.
Nonetheless, welcome aboard Derrick Williams! I hope you're stay here is pleasant and full of rejuvenation.
Edit: I almost forgot that for as good a coach as Rick Adelman is he REALLY doesn't like playing his young talent. Granted, Derrick Williams hasn't lived up to the hype of a #2 pick, but that could very well factor into why he hasn't blossomed like many thought he would.
