Sacramento Kings off-season thread

Kings Searching For Pass-First Point Guard Via Trade
Dec 16, 2013 4:46 PM EST

The Sacramento Kings traded Greivis Vasquez in their deal for Rudy Gay and are now searching for a pass-first point guard.

The Kings are thin at point guard behind Isaiah Thomas, who is also more of a scoring point guard.

The Kings have been incredibly active in trade talks this season, completing the deal for Gay as well as a trade for Derrick Williams.

We are making a mistake if we trade for a starting PG..... because that will mean the end of Young Zeke in Sacramento.

Andre Miller, Kirk Hinrich, Shaun Livingston, or Luke Ridnour sound good

I like IT coming off the bench unless he plays how he played against the rockets. I don't think he got a rest in the second half tho. Unless we can move Thornton and Thompson for a good pg, we might as well wait til the end of the season to see what number draft pick we get. If it's not a top 5 pick, make a draft day trade for rondo or a starting pg.

I like IT off the bench too but I have a sneaking suspicion that he doesn't like coming off the bench. And that will certainly play a part in whether or not he resigns this off season

You're more concerned about protecting IT than making this team better. You can't coddle IT over fear of losing him. We NEED to get better at the PG position, and if that means he needs to come off the bench so be it. If he doesn't like the reserve role he reserves the right to sign elsewhere. IT isn't some extremely special player this front office is fearful of losing.

Nope those words never came out of my mouth, typed out of my fingers, or thought in my head :lol :lol

Chill man. I'm just throwing scenarios out there, is all.

From what I've seen (Albeit limited), IT has as much potential as anyone on the team with his work ethic and heart. If only more other players on the team would show up with the killer instinct he has on a consistent basis. Then Coach Malone wouldn't have to rip into them on a nightly basis about being inconsistent with their effort.

The Celtics are reportedly talking about a multi-player deal with the Sacramento Kings where Rajon Rondo is the centerpiece, as reported by Donny Marshall of the NBC Sports Network and Comcast Sportsnet New England.

There are not a lot of details here, but you can bet a mix of players and picks would return to Boston in this deal. Boston also has rumored to have had discussions as part of a third team in an Omer Asik deal, but now that is a lot of moving parts to fit together.

For Sacramento, I get it. If you can pair Rondo with DeMarcus Cousins you have two young cornerstone pieces you think you can build a contender around. Sacramento would have to surrender multiple picks plus Ben McLemore, Isaiah Thomas and more. Someone like Marcus Thornton (or Rudy Gay) needs to be involved to make the numbers work and there would be others involved as well.

Not sure this comes to fruition, and if a Kings/Celtics trade goes down it is likely much closer to the trade deadline in February. But this is out there.

Sam Amick, though, reports there have been no talks.

I blame Bill Simmons.

At least we can't trade any future picks :lol

We can thank Petrie for that :rollin

Mclemore has to be leading the league in missed dunks

Wonder if he had this problem at Kansas or Oak Hill

Acy has been great.

Pretty much everything I was hoping to get out of him.

D-Will and Gay have been MIA tho, that kinda sucks. Hopefully we pullout a win still

Thomas taking 5 more shots than Cousins through the first 3 quarters is both annoying and ridiculous.

We need a PG and he needs to go back to 6th man
