Shooting Reported at Las Vegas Casino Hotel

This question is gonna sound dumb because I don't know much about guns, Do assault rifles have enough range to shoot people on the ground from the 32nd floor? I thought only sniper rifles have that type of range.

Yeah man. The media ain't ****.
It's definitely y'alls media too. I first heard about this on our news broadcast this afternoon at 1PM GMT+1. The segment showed the shooter and briefly mentioned that woman as being a person of interest but that she was not accused of actively participating in the shooting or anything.

What's wild is how no one at work even mentioned this...but we all saw it this morning.

I know I'm becoming desensitized to it. It's like just another day.

I'm no expert but I don't think the range would have been an issue. The accuracy would probably be terrible but you're basically pointing in a diagonal downwards angle and spraying automatic rounds into a gigantic crowd with no obstacles in the way. You're bound to hit lots of people doing that just by pointing in the general direction.

Very sad situation... I live in Vegas and the city is in shock.
A friend of mine posted about his cousin getting shot and said that at the hospital he was at, there were probably closer to 150 people that were either deceased or in critical condition. The media outlets are reporting 50+ but from everything I've seen the number could be way higher.

God Bless everyone in this situation. Prayers up for real.

A very dense crowed that is majority stationary...

Son had to be really mad about something to randomly spray bullets into a crowd from a hotel killing 58 people. Something set dude off.

Damn my mom's friend coaches a hockey team and one of the players moms was in vegas last night.

She didn't make it...that killed my whole day.

Just think about it in terms of physics. Dude was 32 stories up shooting a rifle downwards.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone who was affected by the shooting last night.

I was about to go to bed but stayed up for hours because of it. I was in Vegas twice the past three months and I can't imagine experiencing this in person. :frown:

one of the dead was most likely a "MARK". The rest of the people are collateral damage and the "ASSET" was programmed to commit suicide. He was over 300 feet UP and AROUND THE CORNER from the concert site!

This dude just gave Isis and other crazy white dudes a blueprint for future attacks smh.

This reminds me of that Texas university massacre where the shooter opened up on the campus from the bell tower.

I thought about this but do check-in kiosks ask for IDs? I thought you usually have to provide a CC and/or some sort of confirmation number.

I assumed he had to go to the desk because that would be a scenario where he'd have to show ID with a CC.

However, the article does say he "used the identification during his stay" and not necessarily at check-in.

Assuming he used her ID to check in, it’s possible he used a kiosk rather than going to the check in desk where they would (hopefully) question him using an ID other than his own. Majority of self check in kiosks that I’ve used in Vegas and many other hotels require you to put you ID and CC into a scanner. No human interaction to confirm that you are the person on the ID/cc checking in.

First hand account - my former coworker who retired THIS PAST FRIDAY was in the Delano last night ... She just sent me a message about the terror ...

Not that we needed confirmation but she is positive it was an automatic weapon ...

I was in Vegas a few weeks back and went to The Range and shot a fully-auto Saw ... pretty gnarly and powerful ...

Ahhh I see. I've only used the kiosks at a few NYC hotels and all they asked for was the CC number for me to check in.
