Shooting Reported at Las Vegas Casino Hotel

This reminds me of that Texas university massacre where the shooter opened up on the campus from the bell tower.
This is the first thing that came to mind, honestly.

He was a trained sniper taking pot shots at students. This dude was spraying an automatic weapon into a crowd. Limited skill necessary.

I really want to know where this dude got the arsenal of guns.

I read something earlier about 10 rifles being found, is that correct? Were they legally acquired?

For those questioning the shooting distance from the hotel window down to the concert grounds, yes it’s definitely possible to shoot a rifle that far. With a reported 30,000 people in the crowd, I hate to say it, but it couldn’t have been hard to hit people down there..

I’m curious as to why there are 2 busted windows on the floor where the shooter was shooting from. They looked kinda too far apart to be part of the same hotel room (maybe 5-6 windows apart if I recall correctly).

500+ injured. Death toll will probably hit the 100's I'm assuming. Wow.

Just another day in America. We'll say our prayers, change our profile pictures on Facebook, and forget about it in a week. Rinse and repeat.

1. Mass shooting occurs.
2. Gunmakers increase production with the assumption US Government will regulate.
3. Citizens buy more guns with the assumption US Government will regulate.
4. Increase in sales allow Gunmakers to lobby Congress and stop regulation.
5. Another mass shooting occurs because nothing is done.
6. Rinse and repeat.

Last I heard it was something like 6, but I've honestly been avoiding all the reporting on this. Right after incidents like there, there is so much misinformation going around I think I'm going to wait before consuming all the news that's being thrown around.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were legally obtained. That's the part that blows my mind. Right now, people can legally obtain a militia worth of guns, but people don't want to discuss whether or not it's too easy for people to get their hands on them.

Can't seem to understand the logic.

The distance is alot closer than what it looks like in the pics. I've stayed in rooms at that level in Mandalay Bay and the concert area is wide open and literally across the street.

There are rooms you can get that have separate living area and bedroom windows.

This **** will not fly in nyc. Pretty sure nypd will posted almost everywhere

Give me something specfic that has proven to work.

The places in this country with the strictest gun laws aren’t safe and have some of the highest incidents of gun violence. That’s not my opinion that’s an objective statement of fact.

More laws aren’t going to work.

The problem with what you're saying regarding gun free areas is that they do not exist in a bubble and their gun control laws do not apply anywhere else. Take the city of Chicago for example. It borders Indiana (pro-gun), Wisconsin (pro-gun), and some of the counties surrounding the city have gun shops (there are none in Chicago). Since there is no such thing as "Chicago border patrol," you can imagine that whoever wants a gun within the city limits can pretty much get one in any of those other places and bring it back in town.

For solutions to be effective, the framework has to be established at the federal level. Otherwise, one state with gun control will only see an influx of guns from neighboring states with lax gun laws.

If you ask me, I would be in favor of laws similar to what they have in Switzerland (I think): you can have guns on your property but not outside of it (in public) unless you can justify traveling with a weapon (going hunting or to the range for example).

I thought about this but do check-in kiosks ask for IDs? I thought you usually have to provide a CC and/or some sort of confirmation number.

I assumed he had to go to the desk because that would be a scenario where he'd have to show ID with a CC.

However, the article does say he "used the identification during his stay" and not necessarily at check-in.
Hotels bend the rules so much though. So we will have to wait an see.

Like if she had high status at the hotel and stayed there before, when she booked the room with him listed as a guess, an agent could have saw that and let him checked in with her ID if he said she was running late.

We wouldn't know until I he investigation is done because the casino is looking at a massive multi million dollar class action lawsuit. So they probably won't be that forthcoming

FYI gun control laws in Nevada are extremely loose (much like the majority of America)

• Assault rifles are completely legal
• The transfer of Assault rifles is legal
• Open Carry is legal without a permit
• Gun owners are not required to have a license, not required to register their gun, and not required to limit the number of firearms they own.

Absolutely insane.

I count my blessings everyday, man. Something like this is too easy to commit. It's amazing that things like this don't happen more often.

ESPECIALLY in NYC IMO.

Word but nypd looking military and ****

Before 911 IIRC, nypd had no counter terrorism unit
