Shooting Reported at Las Vegas Casino Hotel

But they're on the ground too is what I'm saying. You ignoring stuff to fit your argument right now.

I don't even think we would stand a chance against the military but you talking like they'd just straight carpet bomb suburban neighborhoods and urban areas. You know how big the US is?

I'm talking like if there was a situation where someone or something needed to get got in this country, the government possesses the ability to do so without sending foot soldiers to do the ol gun draw duel with guerillas.

Sorry if posted . There’s also a pic of dude with his head partially blown off. Won’t post that for obvious reasons but it’s on social media

wouldn't be the first time The Man has dropped a bomb on US citizens...think they wouldn't if you want. **** gets hot enough and you'll see the dark side of government.

Brahs, what kinda rifle and ammo do I use to stop a predator drone?

Asking for a friend.

Pretty much. There's a lot of dudes who have a severe case of cognitive dissonance or a convenient case of amnesia, maybe both. Don't understand why it's far fetched to even consider it as a possibility considering the past.

I get that, but how would that work in the context we're talking about? How would they know who or what needs to get got?

Keep in mind we been at "war" against terrorism for 15 or so years and that's in somewhat isolated areas. We're talking about the entire US.

What are all the ground soldiers going to be doing, chillin in the barracks?

This is what I'm thinking. Not that people trust the government more, but that people are comfortable and so far removed from soldiers going door to door, that we don't worry about it happening again. It's easy to forget the adversarial nature of the relationship between the people and their government.

Again, I don't expect it to, but history repeats itself.

Only if you ignore/don't know it.

And many in this country have made it their lifelong objective to check out of US society and stay ignorant about it, which is an attitude conducive to the kind of behavior from the government you're afraid of.

Which is why I say, if we are at the point where we need guns to protect ourselves from OUR government, we have already failed to exercise our duty of citizen of a democratic nation (through the ballot box, referendums, protests, strikes, and the media)

Because they could easily use airborne/drone attacks.

Police used sound cannons on protesters in Ferguson

Cut off water, electricity, and food supply.

Civilians would not last long no matter how many guns they have stockpiled.

Don't forget that cutting off the internet has proven to be an excellent way to thwart people's ability to organize against governmental forces in areas that are currently experiencing popular uprisings.

Precisely. Just less than 50 years ago... the NRA was actually in favor for gun control just because minorities (Black Panthers) were beginning to arm themselves from a racist police force who to this day are armed like the military (1033 program), a Conservative Republican Governor (Reagan) imposing gun control legislation (Mulford Act), and the Federal Govt conducting covert operations (COINTELPRO) in the inner cities.

But hey let's make more LAWS to help them imprison us!

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Sun Tzu, The Art of War

I am saying it is far fetched to believe civilians stand a chance. (Keeping your little guns don't matter)

Why is it far fetched? There still has to be people to operate the weapons. The power has and always will be with the people. (Whatever the outcome would be there's no way im bowing down when it comes to protecting my family.)
On a more direct note, if the government were to turn against the people how many people would we really be looking at versus those who would resist?
And if the government were to bring out means of massive destruction what would be the point in killing all the people you were hoping to oppress?

It's far fetched because of training and experience.
I don't expect Jimmy who has 3k Youtube plays on his AR-15 review to be an equal to Martin who has combat and arms training

Also factor in the intimidation factor of war itself. Don't think most regular people are ready for seeing the man next to them get splashed around them
