Shooting Reported at Las Vegas Casino Hotel

I'm starting to feel like even to purchase a gun you should need a justification. Like how some cities in CA handle CCW

The "IT'S MY RIGHT" isn't a good reason to own a weapon

If yall got some free time and wanna do your own research look into how London, Toronto, and to a lesser scale NYC handles guns....they pretty much put extreme controls on guns and the punishments for getting caught with one has proven to deter ppl from messing with guns...it's possible to have an effect on gun crime/murder but you cant half step with it, gotta go all in if that's really what you want

Cities like Baltimore and Chicago go halfway with gun laws so the impact isnt there ....they were trying to purpose another attempt at a mandatory 1st time minimum gun possession law here in my city but that's not getting alot of traction for a number of reasons

Is it possible to

A. Feel there needs to be more strict requirements to obtain deadly weapons

WHILE

B. Believe the shootings will still happens?

That is how I feel but it seems like I am supposed to pick ONE side in this black/white convo
personally i feel that in certain cases a mass killing can be prevented or at least wouldnt be as catastrophic if we had better requirements... in this situation according to our current laws he purchased his weapons legitimately and wouldnt have raised any red flags if a thorough background check was ran

I mentioned that earlier, and that's not happening

Yea in America currently this wouldnt fly...but I'm just mentioning some ideas that have had a a proven effect on gun crime n shown some measures of success since some seem to think there is no solutions that can bring positive changes

I'm sure some do, I'm sure some don't. It is what it is.

Not debating a subject with asinine deflections and emotional outburst helps a ton though.

Good, then stop with the passive aggressiveness, cattyness and the snide remarks, because I don't care.

or are you going to tell me about myself again like you're hurting my feelings, because you're in your feelings. It's unbecoming of someone. Instead of patronizing it's laughable, because how obtuse you are at what you'e saying.

I know about me, obviously you don't know about you, because you wouldn't dare type some of the things you do.

there was a report that antifa literature was found in the hotel room

these are just ways to deflect people from the gun control debate and say a group is responsible

there was still a gun in his hand and he murdered many people

talk about whats relevant

I guess the "let's settle this in real life" talk is next :lol

Last year, we produced a series of stories on American gun deaths and the people behind the statistics. From that reporting, and other sources, we know mass shootings are different from other kinds of gun deaths in several ways.

First, they’re rare, and the people doing the shooting are different. The majority of gun deaths in America aren’t even homicides, let alone caused by mass shootings. Two-thirds of the more than 33,000 gun deaths that take place in the U.S. every year are suicides.

still 33k people dead from guns

what does it matter the reason behind?

a gun was in someones hand and then a life ended

Shows how horrible we are as a nation with dealing with any mental health

Think of all the famous people with depression that have died

Think of how many depressed people might be out there without help

Now put a gun in their hands cause its damn easy to

Mass shootings are just one aspect of what needs to be addressed, they are the trigger for the gun debate to even begin.

The gun talks need to be happened now, and before, and continue to be done to address the fact of people dying by gunfire.

I don't care about other talking points. Let's address that guns exist and people die due to them.

how you gonna stop people killing themselves?

are you gonna stop making bridges cuz people commit suicide off em and cars crash?

gun control basically doesn't solve ish.

That Obama video is on point. People that are way too pro-gun miss all of those points he mentioned. This isn't about taking your guns away whatsoever. We have to find a way to slow down these domestic terrorist events. They are just far too commonplace now and it's scary that we are getting 'used to it'. You're right. Evil is evil and they will ultimately find a way. It is still our ultimate duty in some form or fashion to find ways to slow down, negate, and/or make it that much more difficult for them to happen via certain methods.
