Shooting Reported at Las Vegas Casino Hotel

Exactly. When I go to the ag supply store, they make you jump through hoops to buy certain bulk fertilizers that can be used in bomb making. I'm more than happy to jump through those hoops knowing it can prevent people from having easy access to bomb material.

there's more hoops to go through to buy sudafed than to buy ammo

If buying fertilizer or a razor blade or cough medicine is on the same level of difficulty as a gun, this country is screwed

And people still doin meth...

Certain things like meth, crack, and opium based drugs are scary.

Somethings are capable of altering the brains mechanics, even heavy alcohol abuse.

There are serious mental dependencies that form from the use of such substances and those need to be addressed along with the access to the items.

Terrorist are still making bombs tho... just using different materials

And people still doin meth...

Yes people still make bombs or use meth, but do you know for a fact that making it harder to buy fertilizer, sudafed (or whaterver needed for meth) HASN'T reduced the number of bombings or meth users in this country?

You seem to be under the impression that we think implementing any kind gun control policy will reduce the gun violence to 0. If one new policy making it harder to obtain weapons reduces the gun violence just %10, don't you think it's worth it?

Any less loss in life is a good thing. The goal is no deaths by gun. But any type of progress is good progress.

There is no progress right now because the NRA and others have played the system in their favor.

They'd oppose it even if it were projected to cut down on gun violence by 90 percent

Probably depends on where you live. Don't really need a car in NYC or DC.

Generally speaking. You know how far we'd be set back without the automobile? How far would we be set back without ARs and AKs and bump stocks?

I guess this is the big "so what?" You care more about deaths by gun than you care about death by jumping/hanging/overdosing, etc? Is the death worse when a gun is used?

Shouldn't we do what we can to prevent any death whatever the means?

Yes people will kill themselves. We need to do what we can for mental health. And yes, thats related to this. It's all one big picture. We as a nation look the otherway with any type of mental health disorders and hospitals churn them out onto the streets as quickly as they can. A good majority of homeless are mentally ill. How do we treat them? Keep them in the streets.

Guns are an easy way for anyone to kill another individual. At least making it harder to do so might help. But something needs to be done otherwise shootings will be as regular as category 5 hurricanes.

No, that's not the impression I am under. We are in the thread discussing the Vegas shooting. The Vegas shooting has sparked this gun debate. Yet everyone in here concedes that stricter gun laws wouldn't have prevented this thug from doing the shooting. Basically people are utilizing this tragedy to score political points about an issue that wouldn't have kept this from happening. That's the issue.

NO. NO. It ain't that easy.
Plenty of conversations go on, but when one side is completely ignoring facts, research, evidence, and proof how fruitful are those conversations gonna be. People got tired of hearing the same arguments applied inconsistently across several events

i literally just linked this.

Last year, we produced a series of stories on American gun deaths and the people behind the statistics. From that reporting, and other sources, we know mass shootings are different from other kinds of gun deaths in several ways.

First, they’re rare, and the people doing the shooting are different. The majority of gun deaths in America aren’t even homicides, let alone caused by mass shootings. Two-thirds of the more than 33,000 gun deaths that take place in the U.S. every year are suicides

there's nothing you can do outside of gun confiscation...try that in America.

The "guns are my fun hobby, don't take that away" argument is a funny one. I don't think most hobbys could be used to kill 60 people and injure 500 in 10 minutes, so not the greatest comparison there.
