But you can still make good money doing the same thing for local/small business'. You'd be surprised how many companies are trying to make the viral marketing jump. I used to have a roommate that did a little graphic design and did alright with it.

RIck Reilly From ESPN did a article for ESPN the mag and he was trying it out and was saying how his son whos in College does this to make some side money 
its legit, but i don't know if it shows up on a record of employment

I do this....BUT! i get mine with box, in plastic, serial code....blah blah and sell for $300-400 for cs4 extended,  $50-70 for Win xp, and so on......

If you live near or go to a college or university, go on craigstlist or kijiji and search "study"
They will have all sorts of ads for people to come in and be used as test subjects. Some are dangerous or sketchy, but others are straight forward.
I pick out the safe ones and email them. I did one yesterday which I have to play on a slot machine for a few hours straight, and they hook up monitors to study your heart rate and blood pressure and pupil dilation, etc. It paid $30/h and also I won $40 bucks from the machine. $100 for 2 hours of "work." Not bad.
Usually they ask you if you have something related to the study. They asked me if I was addicted to gambling and how often I did so. I just made up some stuff.
I've also said I was addicted to cocaine and got paid $200 to talk for 4 hours and be interviewed about my experiences.
I wear contact lenses, so I partook in a study where they check your eyes once a week for 2 months and they ask you to use different brands of solution. I just used my regular one the whole time and they didn't notice. I got paid $500 for that one.
Me and my girl went for a relationship study where they interview us about conflicts and our sex lives. Got paid $50 for that one.

I do these once or twice a week and they pay decent enough for me to pay gas money and insurance.
