Basketball guru Sonny Vaccaro believes there is a real chance that Kobe Bryant could leave the NBA to play in Europe, according to Los Angeles Daily News.
"I think there is a great possibility, if for no other reason than he will make his value worth much more than anyone can imagine," said Vaccaro. "For the first time, they'll actually be in competition."
"Kobe has his own mind," Vaccaro added. "He's bright. He could have gone to MIT and been successful. I watched his formative years. Even when he left adidas, he did it because it made good business sense. He made decisions. He's never been afraid."

"I'm excited about Darius Miles," Allen said. "He hasn't played in a while, and he's excited to be here and help this team."
"When people see him play, he'll be a fan favorite. People say he hasn't played in a couple years, but at the same time he has a lot of basketball left in him. He's only 26 years old, and to be able to have him at this stage of his career is going to be great for us."
Miles has missed two years with a microfracture in his right knee and now faces a ten-game suspension for violating the terms of the NBA's anti-drug program.

"I like our roster right now. I like the pieces that we've added. Along with the veterans that are coming back, I think we have the opportunity to win a Championship," Wallace said. "But as far as that X-factor, you really don't know that until you get in the flow of the season and see how things turn out."
Wallace, who was traded to Cleveland from Chicago in February, averaged 4.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game with the Cavaliers last season.

The Mavericks are hoping that the arrival of Rick Carlisle in town will revitalize the team, especially aging point guard Jason Kidd, according to Dallas Morning News.
"Automatically," Jason Terry said of whether the team's attitude has changed. "It's obvious, if we come back and play the way we played the last two years, the system wasn't bad, but now you've changed the roster. So we needed to go in a different direction."
Carlisle also brought three new assistants to Dallas with him.
"It's going to be really important to keep the fresh approach," new assistant coach Dwane Casey said. "Avery did a great job of tightening the ship, and he and Nellie [previous coach Don Nelson] were so different. We want to keep it simple."
Terry believes that having Kidd for more than two months is going to make a huge difference for the Mavericks.
"You look at Jason Kidd, and we had him for two months," Terry said. "This is one of the greatest point guards to ever play the game. And two months is really cheating us.
"Now we're going to have him through training camp, and he's going to put his stamp on this team."

Whenever the NBA schedule allows in 2008, Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich will have his No. 10 jersey retired by the Jayhawks, according to Daily Kansan.
Hinrich, who graduated in 2003, led Kansas to the national championship game in his senior season and was a Wooden All-American.
"I think it's the greatest honor you could have to have your jersey up in this building," Hinrich said of being honored at Allen Fieldhouse. "In a place that means so much to me, it's an amazing feeling."

Mike Miller, who will play his first season with the Timberwolves this fall, has made a national magazine's list of top celebrity donations for 2007, according to KMEG.com.
Miller and his wife donated $1 million to set up an endowment fund to support the Sanford Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls.
The donation ties Miller for No. 20 on the Parade magazine list with a number of other celebrities. Miller also has played for the Orlando Magic and the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Wizards reportedly have interest in free agent guard Juan Dixon as they head into camp, according to Washington Post.
However, the Wizards are only willing to sign Dixon to a non-guaranteed deal worth the veteran's minimum. That means he'd have to come into training camp and make the team in order to earn the money.
Washington has fourteen players under contract. Dixon split the 2007-08 season between the Raptors and Pistons.

Lakers' executive Mitch Kupchak claims that the Grizzlies were looking to acquire Sun Yue in a trade, according to NBA.com.
"Memphis also wanted Sun in the trade, but we wanted to keep at least one of those two guys so Memphis wanted Marc [Gasol], and we are happy that we were able to keep Sun Yue, because we liked him when we drafted him," Kupchak said.
The Lakers drafted Sun with the fortieth overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.
