As a huge fan of Star Wars, I can say that the worst fans, are the fans themselves. Let's be honest, we will never be happy or satisfied with anything Disney does. We always have ideas to make the story better, or ideas to make the visuals better. But we, as fans, are the brands biggest critics, but we are also its biggest supporters.

I honestly do not mind JJ coming back for IX. I thought he did a good job with TFA. Yes he did rehash a lot of story lines from ANH, but TFA was still enjoyable to me.

TLJ will determine, for me personally, if Rian Johnson should or shouldn't have been chosen to make Ep IX. We honest won't know if TLJ will be good or not. All we can do is speculate and hope until the movie does come out.

that's all it really boils down too.
I just don't see TLJ sucking and of course I could be wrong. I'm sure if it takes the risk that have been heavily reported, some people won't like that and if it really comes out to be another safe film, then others will be up in arms(like me)
With the head of Disney already seeing a first cut of TLJ at the beginning of the year and saying we are in store for a great ride and Rian Johnson turning down episode 9(because that's how JJ got to do episode 9) It seems like Everyone(from the corporate end of things) was happy with what TLJ delivered on. Also remember JJ read Rians script for TLJ and and said he was extremely jealous to not be directing episode 8.
To me it speaks to a level of confidence that JJ has in his own skill and maybe his imagination can't run wild in this universe the way Rian's did.
I mean 12 transitions total(or whatever) in a SW movie alone is a huge risk.

I just don't want Maz Kanata taking up 45 mins of the movie with her origin, or another scene where they walk in and a alien house band is playing some catchy tune, or a reveal that the first order was working on some huger death star. That stuff would be great in TFA, but we gotta move on from that. For all the crap myself and other give the prequels, they are vastly different from the original trilogy. They deal in politics, Jedi council meetings, the maturation of Obi-Wan and Anakin and we learn the pecking order of who trained who and they explain palpatine's rise to power.

I just hope that JJ is ambigious enough to not fall into his own trap when it comes to him taking on a 2nd movie in a series. I used to be the hugest JJ fan. Loved Alias, Felicity and the first 3 seasons of LOST to me are the greatest 3 seasons for any show MI:3 was great because it rebooted that series, much like the first Star Trek. Lately though, dude is coming off like a hack and huge fanboy of Spielbergs who just seemed to be in the right place at the right time for the come up(not knocking it) but it's like dude, I need something original from you that you can follow through with, and deliver.

I'm really pulling for JJ and SW though I was extremely reluctant of TFA, I ended up seeing it twice in IMAX and once in a regular theater matinee. It's just a great fun movie and brought that joy back. When Kylo stops the blaster I'm still like :wow::wow:. Great imagination there, but it seemed that's where it stopped. It's like JJ the type to be like 'Luke can't bring down a Tie fighter with just the force." and Rian is like "YO WHY NOT?"

The list was short for directors anyways. I'm just hoping a see tremendous growth from JJ.
This is like make it or break it, for me at least.

i bet episode VIII and episode IX will be good movies but earth shattering I'm not holding my breath. People bash Lucas but the man at least took risks. It was his story. To many people pulling the strings that want their own story. But all in all first showing I'll still be there with a smile on my face

So will IX be the last episodic numbered movie or will they keep going with the trilogies?

I like JJ Abrams

Word. I quite liked TFA but I have to agree with people's points about what he could've done to improve it even more. With that said, I'm sure Disney knows the pressure to close out their first trilogy properly and we will be fine.

Honestly, I'm not too worried about the direction the movies seem to be going. I feel like we, as fans, have such strong opinions on who directs what because we love the franchise so much. We want to see it being taken care of properly, and not handled like it's just some movie franchise. We hold Star Wars at such a high level because of the love and have common interest in it. I honestly believe that 8 & 9 will be fine. I watched TFA twice on opening day, and 3 more times in the theaters. I'm sure with 8 & 9 I will do the same.

What exactly are you hoping for in a Star Wars movie that Kathleen/Disney won't give you? :nerd:

honestly Ive just LOVED what I've heard about the news coming out of production. It takes risks. Hamil was quoted as saying the script has lines in it that puts "may the force be with you" to shame. He's also stated he doesn't like Luke's character development or where the character goes in this film. A LOT of people are saying this is an unconventional take on things and it seems like Kennedy just gave Rian the reigns as there seemed to be little to no production problems. unlike with every other new star wars flick. Even in that BTS footage some of the actors like daisy are lookin confused and out of their element. I mean it's all speculation and me with extra high expectations but I just want my mind blown open on the things that are possible that were never thought about(like Kylo stopping that blaster and then them showing it frozen as they escort Poe to him, that's honestly one of my all time moments)

Even the dialogue in the teaser was great, with Rey describing the balance and that ending statement by Luke, which was bold. Red lettering on title. 12 transitional wipes(the fewest in any SW film). I mean it seems like they gave this guy the keys and let him just do his thing. All because he has imagination and his ideas sounded fundamental to what this saga is, but bold enough to shock the audience.

I'm genuinely hyped

they should keep going. im sure they will kill off all remaining original cast members before the next trilogy starts so it will be like starting a new

how ironic would it be if chewbacca is the only surviving character of the original trilogy?

The Ewoks would body them "Porgs" b.
they need to properly end jar jar binks story

have finn stroll the streets of a new planet and have a very aged jar jar binks run up to to him offering him galactic pleasures for a few spacebucks.

then we all turn to each other and say "so thats what happened to jar jar binks :emoji_thinking: "

Got this for my birthday a few months ago and just spent a couple of hours putting it together. Super fiddly! It's about 2.5" tall.

Nice!

I built a Falcon a couple of years ago. Messed up a few parts... you can't see it, but I wasn't happy with it so I bought another one... have yet to put that one together tho.

Yeah, I'd be way better a second time - it's a lot easier once you get the technique for a few parts. They should give you a trial piece to put together so you can muck that up instead.
