Nothing really. JJ had no real plot in mind and just wrote TFA not intending to come back to Star Wars. He literally did not even know why Luke was by himself on a deserted island.

Disney gave the sequel to Rian Johnson, did not intervene during the scriptwriting process or in any real editorial capacity, and now we have TLJ.

To paraphrase Red Letter Media, Disney literally just "gave Star Wars to some guy"

Now JJ is back to clean the mess that he inadvertently started in the first place lol

That’s not true. The Star Wars Story Group had to sign off on everything Rian wrote for The Last Jedi. He also isn’t just “some guy” :lol

Did you read the Q&A I posted or nah?

Your precious Story Group offered little to no input on the narrative direction of both TFA and TLJ

My "precious story group." Listen to yourself.

I didn't see a Q&A on any of the last 4 pages so nope didn't read it. The Star Wars Story Group has the final say on what is and isn't canon in the SW universe, and every change and addition that is made has to be signed off on by them. It's a corporate check and balance that is involved in things as minute as changing the name "Korriban" to "Moraband."

If you think they didn't ok the script of The Last Jedi then you're in denial.

ROTJ was certainly better than TLJ thats for sure.

I thought that it wasnt even close until I watched Rotj again.

I love the beginnng of rotj

But again compare those two films without considering anything else.

When did I say they didn't "ok" it? Lol

I said there was no editorial oversight and intervention. Rian Johnson wrote a script, they read it, and said "ok looks good".

Meaning all they did was ok it

Intervention? What do you think a normal script writing process entails...?

If they didn’t like his script they wouldn’t have approved it...

The script writing process entails writing a script lol. Then the studios or other parties suggest changes and alterations.

You'd think a company with a "Story Group" would do this, but it's explicitly stated that they did not. Johnson wrote a script with serious flaws, everybody loved it, the movie was made.

That's why you get characters engaging in 100mph crashes with each other because nonsensically it will somehow save their life

And then these characters give speeches about saving the ones they love when their actions literally prevented this from happening

And this is why Rent-An-Admirals don't communicate with their subordinates

And why characters take actions that result in numerous in-universe fatalities but are somehow commended for it

And why villains with teen angst issues and piss-poor motivations are somehow expected to rule the space empire

And why the space empire that was once stated to be a minor "military junta" is suddenly a massive space empire despite the crippling blow to its headquarters days earlier (in universe)

Lol this movie was dumb

The first act of that film is golden...

When the Rebels end up on Endor it goes to crap...

Now, let’s look at that opening scene of Return of the Jedi……

Luke’s big plan, was for all of his friends to get captured/locked up, inside Jabba’s palace? A Jedi, a princess, and multiple important Republic individuals couldn’t get the use of a small band of rebels to come help them, WITH their weapons?

That was Luke’s big plan, to walk in unarmed? Chewie in cuffs, Leia tied to Jabba as an unarmed slave?

Let’s go back…..Jabba lives on Tatooine, the same planet where Luke was from? So, Han was hiding from Jabba, ON Jabba’s planet? What????

How did Luke know he could beat the Rancor, unarmed? Because of a spare bone, and a rock layin around? Why’d he have to throw the rock, couldn’t he force push it?

Why did Luke return to Yoda for more training, but Yoda said he doesn’t need any more training? Well then why was Yoda adamant Luke stay to complete his training in Empire?

Boba Fett died at the hands of a blind man, and was burped up by a vagina with teeth. We didn’t get to see where he was from, or who he was under that mask, or anything.

Luke’s “plan” consisted of Han in cuffs (and blind), Chewie in cuffs, Leia tied to Jabba, and Luke’s only weapon on a droid, that could have been destroyed in the dungeon if another droid chose? These were the leaders of the Rebel Alliance?

Luke had his back to the guy that shot him, with his hand up in the air…….why did the guy shoot him in the hand, and not in the back, or back of the head?

Who oversaw this stuff, did they not watch the previous two films when writing this? HACKS.

Am I doing this right? 8o

And lightning shooting out of peoples fingers looool???? How are you just going to randomly introduce some super power lol

How the **** do teddy bears defeat empirial soldiers with robots lol

Also han was supposed to die but good ol George

"As Harrison Ford put it in 2010: "George didn’t think there was any future in dead Han toys."

Am I doing this right? :nerd:

The lengths you go to defend TLJ; I love it.

The ending of return of the Jedi is cheesy lets be real

The ending of a new hope is nothing new and the most predictable. They have a party and get medals. Nice

The last Jedi ending (besides broom kid) is the most realistic considering the situation besides the empire strikes back ending.

Cmon folks.

The lengths you go to defend TLJ; I love it.

I'm not defending the movie. I'm mocking the garbage reasoning and assumptions for why things "didn't work" as people have claimed.

Be real, my "critiques" of RotJ were spot on, no? Same as the ones for TLJ, right? Same logic? Or is that only allowed for them, dealing with the new movies? Fill me in on the rules so I can be enlightened like y'all are.

I need answers folks, I need to see why one guy would be absolutely fine with RotJ, so much so he says it's the best one of all, but then trash TLJ, and claim it is the worst one of all, even tho you can use the same logic (or lack thereof) for both films.

How can he be fine and overlook one, but trash the other? 8o

Am I the only one that sees that? We're all good with this line of "critiquing" films?

Especially when a few weeks ago the same person was hyping the film he was about to see, while predicting a huge part of the story he had zero inside knowledge of. When he didn't get his way, suddenly, everything changed.

We all turnin a blind eye to that?

The movie has flaws. I never said it didn't. But guess what, they ALLLLLLLLL do. So to destroy one film for flaws and storytelling, you kinda have to do the same with the others, no?

I hated the first two prequels. Hate them. But that story was told to us, in the OG. And what we got, didn't match up.
These films are new, there is no story we already know, just fan theories and guesses. So to pick apart a story that isn't even finished yet.........I mean, what if Del Toro happens to be a bigger piece in the 3rd film? What if we do find out more about Snoke, later? Or if Phasma survived? Or more info on Rey's background.

I've read people assume Disney has no overseer, that Rian hates Star Wars, that no one even read the script, that he didn't even watch TFA, that JJ has no idea what to do for Episode 9, that Star Wars is ruined, that Disney hates Luke.......I mean, what in the actual **** guys? :lol NONE of that is accurate.

I’m just going to assume someon in this thread has already addressed all of your plot gripes and reply “lol”. Each of the movies has these issues. Most of what you listed aren’t even issues.

Never understood the complaint questions about the physics and mechanics of tech (from bomb drops to starship capabilities) in a science fiction story. Less believable to more believable is still not real. But I like that you will point out plot points for discussion:

Do we have any real idea how complex or massive the First Order military strength is after all those years in the Outter Rim? Starkiller Base took out the New Republic's capital star system of multi planets. Decapitation move causing disorder across entire galaxy. And reread TLJ opening crawl. Sounds like just sending out First Order legions across major systems to take control.

The whole Rose/Finn Canto sidetrack was pretty worthless to me. But that crash to save his life has been used in other movies. Dude seemed to want to kamikaze himself, so either kill him off or save him.

Like that "Rent -a-Admirals" line. Good one. Figured they didn't know each other, he disobeyed orders, got people killed and was demoted. Management not trusting his judgement.

Good post.

Why would an admiral tell a just demoted officer who was notorious for disobeying orders and going rogue her entire plan for saving them after he’d just put them in a worse position? How about he just follows chain of command, trusts she knows what she’s doing and does what he’s told like every other military officer ever is supposed to?

That’s the whole point of that side story. Poe learns he doesn’t know everything, hat his recklessness gets people killed, and might isn’t always right.

this

we have no idea what's coming. we have no idea if all of your questions won't be answered. the story didn't end with TLJ.

NIKETALK 2K18......where professional movie critics and Professional fashion critiquing come to play. What happened.

I can't wait til' Episode IX....

FLAME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can we all just agree to disagree...The film is seemingly too divisive to sway most people in the opposite direction of their current opinion...At this point we’re just repeating the same points over and over...

Maybe with time it will soften one way or the other but at this point it’s too new...

Let’s move on to Solo and hope that Episode IX blows us all away...

I don't think any of us are changing minds one way or the other (cept Zik) but I agree. Some like it, some don't. No movie was gonna be 100%. There were people who didn't like Rogue One, and I can't fathom how they got there. :lol

I know people are down on the Solo film, and I'm sure there will be some bumps in the road, but I'm excited to see it, same as I am the next 50 movies that come out from Star Wars. My gripe with Lucas over the yeas was holding the potential of the franchise hostage, now that that's over, I want all I can get. 1 movie a year, 2 movies a year, whatever, just keep em coming. :hat
