And who in they right mind is taking that #POWDA! and not taking a dump before lifting?

315 deadlift attempt was a fail. I got it off the ground tho so I’ll take that I guess  Might be time to invest in some chalk or straps but I feel like I should be able to hit 3 plates without that so I’ll hold off as long as I can

Gonna run another cycle of ed coan to get from 290 to 320 now

What shoes yall lift in?

Just curious

for bench and deadlifts

(Assuming you're not trolling)
I hate to be "that guy" (not really) but I don't feel like Ed Coan's DL program (which I also think is very overrated) is "appropriate" to run for someone with your current strength & experience levels.

Assuming you're fully-grown able-bodied male (no offense intended), and are not especially small or frail, you should not be failing a deadlift single at 315, let alone be running a program to attain such a feat.

I've literally coached/train folks that have never pulled a day in their life to greater numbers that in between my working sets or while training someone else on more than one occasion.

However, I am just a random internet stranger and multiple posters ITT get butthurt when I make observations so continue to do what you will.

Anybody ever dealt with meniscus issues?

My knee been feeling weird for about 4-6 months now, I finally got it checked and my physical therapist said it’s my meniscus. Said it’s likely a slight tear but an MRI would just be cutting hairs with where I caught it at (slightly early)

I’m unsure of how much I should be babying this. I obviously want to rest it but don’t want to completely sit out of most activities unless I have to.

Anyone ever healed one of these before?

i’ve had both my knees scoped for meniscus tears. my tears were too big to fully repair so i still have tears. no real need to baby it if you don’t have pain. just strengthen the muscles to keep everything tight

Problem is I do have pain. Knee feels kinda of unstable at times, and I felt it most when I was sitting on a plane unable to stand or straighten my leg for an extended period of time. About 45 minutes in my seat and my knee was basically screaming to stand up or straighten out. It sucked. Even during my first “take it easy” workout today, I felt my knee a few times while just doing easy and reserved movements.

I do a lot of shadow boxing, Muay Thai. I know I can’t do a whole lot of that right now (or at all), but not sure about further than that.

Thanks for the feedback g. :pimp:

do you have swelling? meniscus have no nerve endings so technically they have no feeling. it you have swelling get that taken care of before getting back to it.

only time i have pain is when it twist and it gets pinched or gets folded under and my knee locks up. even then it’s not really a sharp pain but more of a shock

Tbh I haven’t really looked for swelling.

I have pain and shock pains when I was thinking it was a “strain” I could feel out and work through a week or so ago, but like you said usually when I twist it (basically all the time when shadow boxing).

Other than that it’s just unstable that I feel while walking, making turns while walking, etc.

I explained my plane issue to my PT and he asked if I had possible overworked it the days prior, and I said yeah I was going on vacation so I got a really good workout in the day before. He just nodded and said that sounds about right

def sounds like you have some swelling/fluid. that will cause the instability to feel worse. once that goes away in should feel normal till the torn piece gets caught/pinched

rest if for a bit and take some anti inflammatory meds. should be good in a few days. used to happen to me all the time before i had surgery

I would feel hope famb if I hadn’t just taken off basically 3 weeks and went back 1 day and it’s basically back where it was

Ugh

if it just happened it’s probably gonna take a bit longer. if you irritate it you’re basically starting over. it’s frustrating for sure, but just take it easy and it’ll get better

Thanks for the tips g. Appreciate it. Seeming like something I gotta tune in to my body for. Unfortunate. I guess the journey is peaks and valleys

Yes. Picked up a tear playing sports once. At first I got told it was a sprained ligament.

It was significant but too small for surgery once they did an MRI a couple years later.

Had to baby it for several months after it happened and it only ever really got better after 2-3 PRP injections plus wearing a medial unloader brace) and started lifting. I also started taking
joint supplements. Fast forward and I couldn't even remember which knee it was the other day.

tl;dr: Squatting. Blood doping. Wearing a brace. Pills.

I have suspect meniscal tear right now and have to go to my specialist for a close mri scan. It's been bothering me on and off and have to call in sick. Sharp pain and instability and some muscle sprain around the lateral muscles which causes some radiated pain. Almost felt the same as far as pain sharpness goes when I had my acl injury.

Bulking up a little has helped with bjj injuries plus technique has gotten better Still fasting, doing less OD cardio but sitting at 220 solid. I got through a 5 day beating in training last week with no injuries.
