Stephen A. Smith Wylin

SAS just said recently that even though he has love for Skip, he'd never work with him again.

Stephen A ain't tryna go back to being the lil homie again. Skip in a weird spot cuz people saw how he was disrespecting Shannon. Shannon is a HOFer, 3 SB rings, broke every TE record when he retired and Skip had the nerve to say he was jealous of Tom Brady. I know other media personalities thinking if he don't respect Shannon who does he respect.

I did notice in their last couple weeks Skip was extra nice to Shannon. I think he realized he messed up. Shannon made Skip a bit likeable to some people. Shannon's big personality with Skips old and grumpy vibe was like a good odd couple show. I don't know who he can find that's willing to deal with him and that's good TV.

there are guys out there with big personalities. as long as they are ok with playing a character and letting skip talk over them.
some guests he had before like chad johnson, TO, or richard sherman could make good tv. i would assume it being a football guy

TO and Skip hate each other. Sherm ethered Skip years ago. I doubt Chad wants to get up super early, go to production meetings 5 days a week. It ain't easy as just getting somebody.

Getting Shannon was the perfect storm for Skip.

Stephen has more in common with Skip than people care to admit. Stephen is just more charismatic. First take has had a revolving door of co hosts.

From Rachel, Stephen A, WoJ... are all cut throat/petty. Game of Thrones style.

Honestly, the way Max carries himself is annoying. Even on KJM, he would cut those guys off like crazy and force weird answers/angle during debates to find a way to counter them, alot of times going beyond what the question is even asking. I would be annoyed too.

Only things espn I listen to watch outside of sports is bomani‘s pod religiously, Dominique’s pod religiously and most of Mina’s pods

and then nfl live every once and a while

o and debatable pod regularly
Foxworth Fridays is my joint in the car.

I used to be big on ESPN podcasts: Jalen and Jacoby, True Hoop (GOAT NBA podcast back in the day), Bill Simmons, Bomani (with Shannon), First Take, etc.

SAS ego is heading toward Skip's level. Skip lost his ever loving mind when he disrespected Shannon. He violated the code of a team mate.

I'm curious on what was wrong with Max. Max was on there for a minute. How did Max get on there in the first place?

SAS is definitely trying to position himself as a media mogul as he gets in his later years. He sees content is king now. The Pat McAfee deal on ESPN. Kick giving out two year $100 million contracts (like think about that smh). ******** folks making millions.

What happens to Shannon will be a litmus test. Those folks who lost their jobs. They'll land on their feet. But someone like Jalen can definitely bounce back and become a major content creator.

ESPN went from actual sports reporting sprinkled in with jokes and fun to wrestling promos and narrative spinning. Other than documentaries and twitter clips when the Cowboys/Lakers/Yankees lose, I just keep it moving.

You really think SAS is on the Skip path? I do not, mainly because I think he separates business from personal feelings and is about his bag/future. Skip is a hater in the truest sense of the word and I don't get that from SAS. Especially as he has been featured more and more over the past few years, he never takes it anywhere near the levels of Skip with the disrespect. Hell, he has JJ Redick on regularly who has clowned him multiple times for never hooping at high level and has also called him out on being flat out wrong with his takes that JJ backed up with stats/metrics.

I alluded to it on the last page but per what SAS said, nothing necessarily "went wrong" with Max. They could still be doing the show today but SAS just felt the pairing had reached the end of the road and neither of them could take their careers or the show any higher. Similarly, that is the reason he stated he would not work with Skip again because he does not think they could elevate each other.

SAS is absolutely playing the long game. He could still be successful and maybe make more money on his own but having that Disney backing will take him further in terms of public spotlight than anything he could do on his own. I don't know if he is angling for one of the Kimmel/Fallon/Colbert or Corden/Meyers spots but the in with Disney/ESPN/ABC would definitely help him if anything happens with Jimmy Kimmel. Not sure what other late night options are out there.

^SAS breaks character every so often and will walk back an argument. he knows how to play both sides. for example, he can be pro player one day, and the next on the side of owners. same with other issues like politics, race, etc
skip to his credit does not. he is a complete a-hole and will not apologize for what he says. he is who he is on tv turnt up a notch.
he mentioned the kimmel gig before and has filled in as a guest host. he definitely does not get that opportunity if he leaves espn/dis. he's still jas a role in one of their soap operas

ultimately, you need to suspend disbelief when watching these shows and realize they are characters on tv. one is typically heel and the other is a face.

RE: The bolded. Yep, that is exactly what I was referring to. He definitely operates on "both sides" but keeping it 💯, he does not get to where he is today if he didn't. He does it without causing harm.

I honestly don't think SAS could move the way Skip does because he would be/would have been fired. It's not fair but it's unfortunately the world we live in |l

I didn't know he was a guest host on a Kimmel before! That would be the obvious move and I am in completely agreement that he wouldn't even be in the consideration without the Disney/ESPN plug. And yeah, he has a recurring role on General Hospital which goes to show his reach/influence/impact within the network

I saw the same thing all the time - these ESPN/FS1 shows are mostly not meant to be taken serious. It is just pageantry and entertainment with some insider opinions/information and little in-depth analysis. Pods and Twitter ( ) are where you are going to get valuable information. Hell, the NikeTalk Sports & Training Forum is more informative  :pimp:

Max is like the non aggressive Skip. He makes a bad point then when you tell him it's wrong he goes on and on saying you don't understand.

His NBA takes are bad. That's what really got SAS. He would be saying something that's easily debunked and SAS would be ike "Max you're wrong" "No SAS you just don't get it". SAS would be getting pissed off. :lol

I used to like Max.He went off the deep end though.

His Kawhi over Kobe take is what made people really turn on him.

Iggy fate of the universe though? 100% true. Game on the line get #30 sitting in a corner somewhere.

Yeah that was another one

SAS always been annoyed with Max, I'm surprised it lasted that long.

Cats out here watching ESPN live and pretending like they don't.
^this. it can be highly sport entertaining. can be cringe, but sometimes you can't turn away from it :lol
i am not totally against it. i will catch a youtube clip if it pops up or if someone shares it on here or reddit, etc.
they have it in the break room at work. folks love it and i can see why casuals can get sucked into these debates.

Screamin’A had me in tears earlier talking about Rodgers in NYC & how he’ll handle the major market madness.

He said something to the effect of the Jets have been trash for so long that when Rodgers farts its gonna be like a spritz of perfume.
