Stephen A. Smith Wylin

They should just give Molly her own show

Why  That is like asking your point guard to all of a sudden be your #1 scoring threat (not saying that can't happen in basketball but you get it). She is the facilitator and a damned good one IMO considering she has had to rein in the likes of SAS, Mad Dog, Perk, Max Kellerman, Michael Irvin, etc. on a regular basis.

Didn't realize she was 39 :wow: Not saying she is old or washed (I 100% wood), I just thought she was younger for some reason

How did Malika survive these cuts is the real question

I believe her pay saved her. I was curious one day and googled her salary only to find out that it's less than $100K a year.

Max Kellerman has "smartest guy in the room syndrome" which alot of egos have, but sometimes his is just too extreme to even comprehend.

Sometimes I red-pill troll with Malika. But why should she be fired?

Probably a lower contract than some of the guys they cut, which were probably in the millions. Monica McNutt is probably another cheap contract.

ESPN was simply looking from a ROI perspective.

Wow. She host every NBA show.

Chuck was right :lol

I did a quick Google search and multiple websites are saying Malika's salary is $50-78K :wow: (net worth is $800K doe). That is crazy to me. I guess she only hosts one hour long show per week but I would think with her NBA Countdown hosting/appearances (2-3X per week) that she would make more. Wild.

I thought she would at least be @ $500K. Makes me think the only ones really checkin a bag like that are Hannah Storm and SVP as far as the daily shows.

Yea. Most that got cut were the ones with the huge salaries.

Max, Jalen, Van Gundy etc were making bank.

They were also on multiple shows, and when they get cut, I’m assuming their production staff gets cut as well, since the show will be dissolved

So for someone like Max, not only do you, save on his big salary, you also save on those productions, seeing as he was on three or four shows

Right?!?! I mean, all things considered, if she is just doing NBA Today for ESPN and some game stuff 2-3X per week, is she "working" 8 hours per day? Not trying to disrepect her or her occupation, I am just wondering how much time she puts in working which brings me to my next point...

i wonder what their benefits look like though

I don't know about benefits (medical, health, dental, 401K, etc.) but I am damn near certain that the perks have to be on point. Gets to travel all across the country for games while being stationed in LA or NYC. Probably gets flight upgrades (either paid for by ESPN or with her own status that she has built up through her work travel). Probably stays at nice hotels with the same comment about flights (upgrades). All her expenses are paid on the road with her corporate card, probably gets to expense "work dinners" with other insiders and players. Then on top of that she gets access to just about every player, team and thing related to the NBA. Gets her face out there and ends up in state farm ads and probably others.

So it's not ALL bad but sub-$100K still seems extremely low. I really just want to guess that was old data

I just saw Undisputed announced it's return date. August 28th. I'm guessing Skip probably went with Shady.

Malika making good money. No way is she on the world wide leader in sports, hosting one of their marquee shows for a respective professional sport and making less than $100K. She’s probably going to earn a million on her next contract. She checks the wicket on two diversity categories.

I am in agreement with you - the information available online just has to be old.

ESPN is a like many other jobs. They have thousands of employees.

Fresh outta school and a few years after you’re probably not gonna be making tons of money.

I was surprised too. I think we’re getting jaded by the visibility aspect of it. Like if someone is on Tv they gotta be making mad money.

I’m sure there’s lots of talent that make average salaries. What I think being on TV does is put you on the fast track for superstardom/big money. Like we all know her now, so when she went back to the table her salary probably went up 5-10x.

I get what you're saying. She only graduated college in 2017 and didn't really get in the public eye until 2020 (~3 years ago) around the time of the Bubble. So in reality she's really only been in the game for 3 years but her rise has been meteoric. Even though she signed a contract when she started, as she started taking more prominent feature roles, I would imagine that they increased her salary or renegotiated. It's just that internet sources haven't caught up or gotten more reliable information yet.

espn is some of the worst television i've ever seen

#NTExtremes

She definitely looks her age.

Figured she was this age or older TBH.

Yea. I think that’s what it is. That internet salary was probably her starting salary.

She’s a big name but not like the people they just let go, so even if her salary exponentially went up it still won’t be close to the people she’s 20 years younger than, so it works out for ESPN.

how is me saying that is espn is really really bad to me a nt extreme?

Look at the exact quote I highlighted.

Saying something is poor vs. saying it's some of the worst you have EVER seen (in your life), #NTExtremes for sure.

how are you able to determine what the worst tv i have ever seen is ?
especially in a highly subjective situation

i personally think debating sports drama is the most useless thing in the world
