I kinda understand what Noah was trying to say but it's not entirely true. No matter who wins world competitions, that country is going to be lead by NBA players. There was no need for him to frame it that way and stage an attack like that at that moment. No one took his moment away, he did. Plus he was kinda goofy too.
Plus if anything the MLB was playing the "World Series" long before NBA commentators started saying world champs.

It was dumb, because all of the best players come here so it's the best players in the world playing in the NBA. NBA players who can't cut it go to other leagues. PJ Tucker and Patrick Beverly worked to get from over there. You can say four of the five or six best players in the league are all foreign. Giannis, Joker, Embiid, Luka, versus KD and Steph.

What are we doing here. Some of these young people are dumb as hell. I met a young woman who didn’t know what a pacemaker was…. Dude could’ve easily looked at the overall history of the sport. Whether NBA, international, Olympics, etc and would’ve realized that he was completely misinformed but again, we live in the age of say anything and people believe it’s factual
Out of 20 possible outcomes, the USA has 16 gold metals in Olympic play. Man it’s a headache dealing with some of these dense people out here

altho technically true…it’s dumb because it was unnecessary…beyond the apples to oranges comparison of a team sport vs. an individual one, why even make the argument 
like what does what these other organizations call themselves have to do with what you got going on?
furthermore it’s all kinda arbitrary, however unlikely, in theory there could exist some person outside of the world track & field federation that could be a better whatever…but since they’re not in said federation even less folk care (it is a lil’ sad that track & field basically get no shine outside of the culmination of the 4 year olympic cycle 
, so maybe it’s just that frustration bubbling up)

Most people didn't know how Noah Lyles was before it, even after the three gold medals, so I guess it worked.

Triple crown winner, Olympics coming up, they would have known eventually. Antics not needed but I guess that's standard nowadays. Son got next unless he fizzles out.

possibly, but unlikely that it extend outside of the sphere of interest in the Olympics...track & field in the states just has too much to complete with as a such an individual sport that doesn't really get much burn, has no real reason to be that invested, no rivalries folk are given to care about, not much opportunity for athletes to show flare or personality...
maybe usain bolt was household name but arguably if he wasn't such an outlier w/him being so tall for a sprinter he maybe isn't...can't really think if guys like maurice greene, tyson gay, Justin gatlin were known similarly
