I think it’s plausible he was trying a little Jiri unorthodox type stance holding his hand. Either way dude fought really boringly and the boos were deserved.

I know he’s finished a few fights in impressive fashion, but not where you literally jumped up from the couch and went, “HOLY S$!T!!!!”

UFC 271 was interesting. It was good to see Roxanne Modafferi out there one last time. I thought she won the fight but even with the loss, she fought tough. Bobby Green is SUCH an interesting character! His style is so off putting but it works for him. He better learn to keep his hands up against the better competition he’ll face though or he’ll get put to sleep soon. Brunson took a brutal loss but Cannonier is no bum. Cannonier’s power is serious business! I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE TUIVASA KNOCKED OUT LEWIS IN H-TOWN! IN. H-TOWN! Can’t wait to see who Tuivasa gets next. Lewis has to run that back and avenge that loss at some point. That elbow Tui hit him with was CRUCIAL! Whittaker fought hard against Adesanya but he just didn’t do enough to win. Pretty boring fight between those two. I respect Adesanya though. Keep getting those close victories and stacking paper!

Cannonier could possibly KO him. But Izzy would play keep away and point fight like he did today. Whitaker was definitely the #1 contender. Right now Cannonier is next. Strickland is probably in the cute after unless Rockhold can come back and steal one.

Nope. Sometimes anderson had you thinking he was in the matrix. Even when he got dominated in fights he'd pull off a miraculous triangle choke to win.

Izzy’s wrestling defense is better than Anderson. As well as his kick boxing.
But Anderson definitely had that matrix down pat as well as the ability/timing to KO.
They both have had stinker fights where they both are tentative due to how they’re more counter based fighters.
Sad to see Lewis go out like that.

Way more than 5. Almost his entire run from the elbow uppercut to Tony Fryklund in 2006, to the running knee on Stephan Bonner in 2012 involved crazy finishes. Was a couple seconds away from getting Bisping out of there with that flying knee too. Anderson was a whole different thing.

anderson had an aura about him. The way he dodged forrest griffin's punches like it was bullet time slo-mo and then knocked him out with a jab is still one of the most lopsided fights i've ever seen. Totally embarrassed a former lhw champ.

Taking someone down but the other person immediately getting back up while you did 0 damage is not going to amount to much in terms of scoring.
It wasn't the most entertaining fight, but Izzy clearly outclassed him striking and the kicking game wasn't even close. I swear some peeps just want to see Chandler Gaethje type brawls every fight

No way Rob won that fight. Don’t care how you wanna look at it. His takedowns he did nothing with them. He was backing up 90% of the fight. Had a couple nice shots in 25 minutes but not enough. To be the champ you gotta beat the champ and he only really did that in one round.

Izzy's footwork alone is masterful. The dude barely gets hit ever and yall want to see him "swang and bang" like every tap-out wearing meathead. Izzy ain't a knockout artist (though he did knock out the dude who stood and banged with Romero).
Rob is a beast and not taking anything away from him, but Izzy's ability to slip punches and keep you at a distance in every fight is what makes him the champ and it's insane to watch. You ever tried to dodge something that's thrown at you from less than a foot away? That **** is harder than standing there and taking it.
Swanging and banging isn't the way to go unless that's the only option you have.

I had it for rob, and I was on the edge of my seat that fight because it was definitely a high tension bout regardless of the lack of striking. People forget that tension is part of the fight too lol, especially with high caliber fighters like themselves who actually respect each other’s game. But I guess peeps can’t feel that in a room of drunk casuals screaming just bleed
Kinda agree, but Andy definitely had a few lack luster fights sprinkled in between his long reign. Izzy is still beginning his reign w/ some high caliber finishes so there still lots of time for highlights.
Damn a prime Silva vs prime adesanya would be those dream matchups.
