The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

Is Anderson the final boss? Nate, a warm up?

That fight is supposed to happen in Oct, can Nate fight that soon, especially after sustaining those leg kicks?

Ehh Nate has more juice coming off the UFC 279 win but I'd doubt he competes in combat sports until early 23' at the earliest. Was joking about why the fight with Silva wouldn't take place.

In all seriousness if Silva goes out there and dominates Paul then the Jake/Nate potential fight loses lot of steam and not sure they'd even entertain it at that point.

Why?

Is the it all over if Jake loses the 0?

My man didn’t box amateur, Olympics, etc. Unless he’s going to fix fights or cans the whole time, it’s not realistic. My man would literally have to hop in the hyperbolic chamber from Dragon Ball to compete with real, seasoned Boxers.

Ehh I'm not saying it's completely over if Jake loses. But if he does take an L, even if the bout is close, then the Nate fight is much less appealing, especially to casuals, after the fact. Nate could try and lure a big name boxer to fight him at that point. Also I doubt it's ever been Jake's intention to compete with the seasoned guys. He's going to try and fight these MMA guys or boxers with names and not much experience unless he lands a big name like Canelo where he'd get paid well.

ANDERSON is such a beautiful person. GOAT’D

Jake Paul.

There’s only so many of these small MMA fighters he can use to prop his record. He’s going to have to fight real boxers.

Nate. Or Conor. It was cool because it’s like what happens when X takes on Y.

But boxing is such BS. It’s why they’ll never come to the cage to see what for.

I think Izzy styles on him at middleweight.

He won’t have a size advantage and Izzy has gotten pretty good at using footwork and leg kicks to stay at distance and pick guys apart.

Maybe Khamzat is still strong enough to bully him to the ground.

…but it wouldn’t be easy imo.

Agreed, izzy would take him 49-46 or finish him

It’s wild the UFC cut this man. He literally was going through a killers row. Just like Tony. Or Nate.

So and so has lost X amount of times. Nate fought Tony, Leon Edwards, Jorge Masvidal, Anthony Pettis, Conor McGregor, Conor McGregor.

We acting like Romero didn’t fight former champs or title contenders. I’ll give boxing credit for at least doing rehab fights.

The message is good. The messenger not so much.

Khabib struggled making weight a few times. I wanna say the whole Tiramisu came from failing on the way to fighting Tony. The last time he fought….he probably got a pass.

Edit: what I will say about Khabib is besides the Artem and post fight situation, he always conducted himself professionally. He would not be screaming Allah Ahkbar and kill everybody. Or not act remorseful for missing weight.

A fighter going against the grain

“Khamzat Chimaev ... just an absolute beast and stud of an athlete and stud of a fighter, man,” Sterling said on his YouTube channel. “The guy is just a special gift to this generation of MMA, in my personal and humble opinion.

“I can’t see anyone else on this [official UFC rankings] list who can really give him a significant challenge unless they are going to be specialists in the grappling department. Not just BJJ, they have to have some type of wrestling. I think Khamzat is a shoo-in to be a champion already.”

I don’t think so. Khamzat was the favorite going into the fight.

Burns negating the wrestling and hanging in there was the eye opener. That’s why I think the Colby or Whitaker matchups are appealing. But Khamzat demonstrated he could become a champion. Easy.

Khamzat is probably the most dominant first round force outside of Francis.

fighting a top 3 guy at the time after 4 ufc fights and winning and people doubting him after lol. i dont get it! he might not beat izzy or leon/usman but cmon theres not many runs that have looked this good to start a ufc career
If anything it made me think even more highly of chimaev after the burns fight

I want to see him against more tests for sure but yeah he impresses every time he fights
