The Official Nike Air Max 90 Thread

As I said before, people need to forget everything they know about 90's. Forget the super bulky and structured upper from the last 15 years. View these more like a pair of flyknits. If flyknits come out of the box flat, does anyone freak out and complain about QC? No, bc it's expected. It should be expected with these too. They are super lightweight and therefore much more comfortable to wear than the old build. A side product of being that lightweight is that they don't hold form with not on foot. Just take 2 minutes to unlace them and try them on. If you still don't like them, cool. Then you can complain. But complaining straight out of the box is just dumb.

yup, horrible idea to jam these shoes in such a small box. Even though they do kind of straighten up i still have to toss the boxes and find other boxes to keep them in because there is no way i am putting them back in those ****ing coffins.
This guy believes he has the solution. Haven't tried it personally as I put everything on shelves but hopefully this helps.

The fact that someone made a video for this is absolutely silly. People just need to relace them and actually try them on.

I think the new build is great. It actually feels like a shoe that could possibly be used for running. Comfort level is 10x better than the bricks they’ve been producing for the past 10+ years.

They all look like that out of the box. Try them on.

I did and most of them are still messed up. The only one that is decent is the purple pair. The rose pair looks like somebody put them up and intentionally creased them. Even though I put them on, the huge crease is still there. The others still have massive dents in the toe even on foot.

Yeah whatever. Send them back. Problem solved.

Also if you’re sizing up and not getting your true size or worse don’t know your true size then you’re asking for problems in the toe box.

Expectations vary. As consumers we represent a very, very, very small portion of a single percent of the customer base. Most people don't feel so passionately about a product such as sneakers to join a message board to talk about them. So with people that devoted you are going to have people who will feel a need to voice their opinion when it doesn't meet their standards.

I had a recent lengthy exchange in regards to a pair I had purchased which has multiple flaws (mismatched mudguards, frayed fabric, indentations on the midsole, flawed stitching across the toe box, and flawed cut of the fabric) and some felt my complaints were legitimate others encouraged me to enjoy the shoe regardless. This was the first time I had raised any questions in regards to quality control during my time participating on NT.

Fundamentally I prefer the new shape and the comfort it brings but would prefer for them to come adequately packaged to ensure they do not arrive misshapen. This is even more of an issue for those in the EU as traditionally this shoe has retailed at around £100 but has seen an increase to £115.

I know it must be frustrating for those that have had to listen at length to these issues and have become tired/bored of it as it can seemingly derail other conversations. But other than creating a thread for people who want to discussing quality control there's little else that can be done.

From 06 to 14 I've pretty much copped only jordans, they kept re releasing shoes and things just got like ok I have these already. Hype around 2015 just got ridiculous to a point I've never seen. I was still buying sneakers for the homies helping them on releases ( till I lost contact with my guy at Nike) Around that some time I stopped I was looking into buying a home and spending money on cars, the same money i would spend on shoes was now going into my vehicle.
pretty much my story, except my hiatus was 2010-2015....got wedding, house, cars, family all sorted during that time. then the jordan "remastered" initiative, coupled with the ease of copping due to the boost craze, pulled me back in.

are these 90s the start of you buying more?

I love the OG box. It’s apart of the whole product presentation, meant to be like the original which it is. I don’t understand the complaints. It’s not like the box ruins the shoe. In 1990 I’m sure this was not concern. Some of you won’t be happy until Nike starts back giving us BS retros again. Nike can’t win for loosing with some of y’all :frown:. I’m sure if they read some of these petty complaints they’d be like “why do we even bother?” “We might as well go back to giving them botched retros, with hard materials in a BIG red generic NIKE box and saved our time, money and resources that went in to making the shoe like the OG”.Cant believe y’all so petty to let the OG box trigger y’all. Is this NT or what? Some of y’all are talking backwards I swear.

I think I typed and deleted the first sentence in your post like 3 times Sat/Sun night and was tipsy so I thought maybe I was tripping. I was about 5/6 in 1990 so I'm not going to pretend I was running rampant in my local store copping 90s. BUT I remember a lot of shoes from that time coming in these slimmed down boxes.. Even Jordans and shoes going into the late 90s still did this. I for one LOVE the small slimmed down box. I must be weird and it must be acceptable to me bc I loved the way the shoes looked all flattened. The toe dents suck but its literally a non existent issue once you stuff them or wear them.

I passed on a few pairs picking up my Volts but not bc of the dents lol. Lastly.. people can choose to do w/e they want with their money. But I seriously dont see an issue with this and its interesting that its still a big topic EVERY time someone gets a pair in on both sides :lol I cant wait to see what happens when Infrareds get here and theyre so popping you cant even swap out a pair.

Dude, yes it does. How else would you explain all these wonky-*** pairs? I understand once you take them out the box and actually put them on they work themselves out. But still, I guarantee if you leave these in over time, it ain’t gonna be pretty.
I un-ds a pair of og AM1 Curry's last year. They spent 15 years in a skinny box. They look fine.

I'd be interested in seeing on-foot pics.

Actually these my second pair I've bought, I ordered some lebron 7 chinas on Monday should be coming in tomorrow. These volts and 7 Chinas will be the start of me buying more. I can say I wont be copping Jordan's any time soon. Nothing against jordans, but 90% of my collection were Jordan's and I've had/have every possible ones I've wanted. Strictly sticking to nike and nike retros

Make a Nike quality control complaint thread then. I think there’s one already actually. If not you can create one kick it off with your complaints about these ‘90s.

The Grapes are from Nike and are a Women's 12. The Turquoise are from SNS and are a mens 10.5. Pinks are from Nike and are a Women's 12. I also have 2 volts and 2 sails that are the exact same size as the Turquoise and the Grapes.

Why are you still trying to engage with me? Your man isn't giving you enough attention at home? You've shown everyone on here what kind of person you are.

In regards to anything else don't address me and I'll do the same. If you truly feel some kind of way (and it's clear you do) if you ever make your way to london and want talk (bear in mind I expect you to keep the same energy) that can be arranged. Otherwise I have nothing more to say.
