The whole situation is weird to me. EYE am not justifying the threats but he's not the first player or public figure to be criticized with stupid names like "Westbrick" or be ridiculed by talking heads. He's on a team with LeBron James who had his jersey burned in the streets, the owner writing a spiteful public letter in Comic Sans to him and all NBA fans hating him for going to Miami. He has one of the best people in the world to talk to about how to deal with this very specific problem. I am not sure addressing it through Twitter or postgame pressers is the most effective course of action.

Lumping the death threats in with "Westbrick" name calling, fans booing and talking heads talking really muddys the waters.

It’s an ugly world we live in where people take sports that seriously.

This is one of my biggest takeaways. I love sports but as I've gotten older and seen how toxic and dangerous some fans can be, I've reeled back a bit. I can get light heckling but the fact that a stranger would attempt to put paws on me or make personal insults because I am wearing apparel of the visiting team is wild. Obviously, the next and more egregious step is the folks threatening the lives of players and their families.

Reminds me of folks yelling at Michael Rainey Jr. in public for what happened to Ghost
