The Penn State Child-Sex Abuse Scandal Thread...Hammer dropped on PSU...sanctions galore.

This is but a case of Arm chair morality.
Don't get me wrong I would have called the police right away, but that GA would be the only coroberating person on the case.
That GA is the one who has to live with himself. There were potiental charges ignored by the university in 1998... Think about that... if there was a chance to ban him from campus it was then.... Instead? No boys allowed on the main campus with Sandusky.
Were here putting all or a great portion of copability on one person

THE ENTIRE PENN STATE UNIVERSITY Athletic Department , and anyone who knew or had a legit inkling should at minimum take a look in the mirror and ask themselves how did it go so far?
Talking about "it was an open secret" after the story breaks doesnt do it. Saying that Joe Pa needed to go to the cops doesnt do it.
Look if Joe Pa told Sandusky that he wouldnt be the next head coach cause he was spending too much time at "the second mile" It could have been simply the time he was away from the football office.
Those allegations might have infulenced the decision, but was it really up to Joe Pa to personally ban Sandusky from campus?
We Don't know what the relationship was after that. It could have been were gone keep you at bey cause it hasnt been proven, and you have not been charged. Honestly thats what happened, then they banned boys from the main campus. He was still allowed to host the boy camp in Erie... How in the blue hell is that on Joe PA? The University knew about the allegations, and still provided space for Sandusky to be a predator.

Is that decision really on Joe PA.
This %$*@ is sick, and I guess they figure that were going to put it on the guy and the regime after they are going to be leaving, let Joe PA die soon after, and rebuild the reputation later. Joe PA despite all his alleged power is simply nothing more than a scape goat cause he is the face of the school.

Exactly. It was McQuery and Schultz who banned him from campus as punishment. Joe Pa has no power to "officially" determine Sanduskys punishment. Joe Pa handled it his way told Sandusky that he wasn't going to be coach because of his child abuse. Whether that was the right way to handle it, that's up for you to decide.
But that also brings up questions. Why was he still allowed on campus and whatnot. I feel like people are jumping to conclusions to answer these questions. No one knows what went on in the conversation with the GA and Paterno. Only they know. That's it. Until then, we have to stop jumping to conclusions and start demanding answers. I was out there screaming in front of old main tonight screaming at spaniers window demanding for answers. That's what we need more of.

From Twitter via ESPN:

"ESPN News is reporting that former Pa. Governor Tom Ridge is potential replacement for #PennState Pres. Spanier. #PSUcharges"

Please get the bastard Spanier out of here. The Penn State community has been wanting him out for years. Now is finally the time.
Also from Twitter

AP says Paterno fights for his job "amid "eroding" support from Penn State's board of trustees." #PSUCharges

Looks like the students aren't the only ones fighting for Joe.

They banned him from bringing boys under 18 on campus... they didnt ban him until Sunday. They didnt ban him and boys until after the 2002 allegation 4 years after the 1998 allegation.

Thanks for clearing it up. I have yet to read the Grand Jury report and honestly I don't want to, I would honestly throw up.

this is not about football, coaches, legacies, or FBS schools,

this is about MEN taking advantage of BOYS.

while other MEN knew of it.

the program should get the death sentence.

and the men involved should be dealt with even harsher than any other case.

They didn't break any NCAA regulations so I don't see that happening. NCAA should just stay out of this investigation and let the real authorities handle it.

true...

but i don't think the NCAA will stand idly by while their hands get bloody as well...

with the previous scandals from this year alone and now this, the NCAA looks like it can't control their institutions.

this is unprecedented. what will become of this will be as harsh as the death penalty.

Please, I hope the NCAA stays out. The last thing the police needs is the NCAA to get in their way. This isn't about football, this is the real world. And they need to stay the hell out and let the "real" people handle it.

No worries, you honestly did make good points and I truly appreciate your insight. It's just a tense situation for the entire country right now and it's very easy for people to get mad at every one.
Just came back from the riots since 10 pm. @@@+ was crazy. Started at the Old Main building where Spanier works. Then to Beaver avenue then back to old main, then to the football stadium, then back to old main. At some point, Spanier snuck out the side and was police escorted which is surprising no one noticed because there were at least 1-2k people out there. Riot police with tear gas everywhere.

A lot of people supporting Joe which is understandable. No one is really protesting his actions but moreso that fact they are forcing him out.

how the $$*@ is supporting this old pile of trash understandable?
all them students should be shot in the face......smh.... #$#@+$* ******s out there...

Joe Paterno KNEW what happen. he was covering for his buddy aswell. Whether it was because he was covering for sandusky or for the school he still did it.

So yes these douche bags ARE protesting against doing the right thing.

I really dont see how ANYONE can defend Joe Paterno.

if this guy wasnt the head coach of the football team them dummies would be yelling !++% joe paterno too.

I like how you pick and choose who to blame but the fact is all them dudes are guilty just the same for keeping quiet not going to the police...

really dont know how you can comment so much on this w/o reading it...not an attack, player
is it a fd up read, ldo...but summaries and c/p jobs of snippets are not enough if you want to have discourse, imo

AF1 1982, why haven't you at least read part of the GJ report?  You might have a little more clarity in your opinion if you were at least somewhat informed as to what went down on your campus.

Also...

here's what Joe said last night (if you haven't seen the vid)
“We want Joe!

Maybe they should let Sandusky continue to use the school facilities since he isn't in jail yet.....

People need to stop painting a picture of Joe Paterno as a sympathetic figure in all of this...I am befuddled as to how the people in his corner aren't holding him the slightest bit accountable for what's gone on at the school for the past 15-20 years.

This situation already makes me sick to my stomach, and I can't even imagine what the reaction will be if he's there in the stadium on Saturday.
30t6p3b.gif
As much as he's done for the school, it's in the best interest of everyone to keep Joe Paterno away.

IDK, I just heard it on the radio last night doublej's.

Guess Joe Schad is now saying it is possible he does finish out the year but no way he's back next year (gee, ya think?)

Unbelievable...

this man harbored a pedophile...but let's let him coach vs. Nebraska.
30t6p3b.gif
Damn shame....victims are clearly secondary to football and Joe Pa's ENORMOUS shadow.

I just got caught up on this situation and it's so sickening what happened and the "acceptance" by the media/school for Paterno.  It's also very frustrating to see what we did to Vick while this person hurts actual people and there's indifference.

This some ill #%%#, I finally got around to reading the grand jury report....my god I cringed reading that #%%#. It made me NEVER wanna leave my child outta my sight again
