The way I see it, ninjahood is just a child yelling at the top of his lungs in Walmart and your being his parent and giving him what he wants just so he can shut up 

You don't have to post more.  It's just supposed to give everyone a sense of what the forum would be like without this thread.  Otherwise, everyone's just dealing in hypotheticals.  

Honestly, "thread about nothing" supporters are being every bit as demanding in that, to this point, many of you don't feel that you have to follow the rules in here.  It is a huge drain on the staff to have to come in here and sort through a million responses to find people talking about porn and piracy.  That's not acceptable.  

We can say that topic creation isn't down significantly, but replies per thread very well could be.  I haven't checked those stats yet.  

People can't be in two places at once.  If a user's spending all of his/her time in here, that means they can't be spending that time elsewhere on the site.  That is a legitimate concern.  Ideally, every person's contributions here enhance the experience of others.  That's what created the value that drew you here to begin with.  Hopefully we can find a good balance.  

Video games aren't inherently evil, but if someone just loafs around the house all day playing video games, they aren't going out and doing anything productive with that time, either.  The answer isn't to "ban" video games, but it's one thing to say "use it in moderation" and it's another to give people the impetus to actually make a change to their daily routine.  Same input, same output.  

I'm hoping the week break will give everyone a slightly different perspective on the matter.  Supporters and opponents of the thread will have a DIFFERENT experience on NikeTalk for one week and we can come back and talk about what aspects of that we liked and what aspects of that we didn't like.

because people are actually PROactive on making thread about particular albums/artist/songs instead of jumbling it up in one massive random thread.

nothing in that thread isnt being already discussed in their respective threads.

That thread in music is really just posting vids/albums and has pretty much replaced the 'Post Your Unpopular Opinion' thread. So there's actually nothing proactive at all.

So you assume that he doesnt engage in discussion about his professional/collegiate teams he follows...but it really strikes a nerve that he mentioned going 0-2 in a damn fall league where he lives?

You're telling that kind of post is holding NT back from progression?

and I can rock with Meth about the sports talk (because yes it has happen in here)...but I'm sorry the example you tried to expose hardly affects the needle swaying one way or another..

and Meth is pointing these things out because it's more of a policy problem..not because it makes General more stagnant...and why would a post like that make General more stagnant? isn't that you're whole gripe to begin with?
