I did it once, it was weird to me because I was seated next to randoms, also did it once at a Chinese Buffet, also weird because they sat me in a whole booth by myself. And only made two plates.

I don't think the buffet is weird. The Hibachi grill might be weird because part of it is a show that is intended for a group.
