The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

Another thing I didn't even realise that the rainbow daytona came in white gold as well as rose.

30. That video with Mayer is crazy cool, thanks for posting

Picked up a black series seiko solar diver currently in route from Japan, will post when arrives.

i find it weird to put diamonds on a steel model... im no expert on watches with diamonds set by the brand themselves but do they usually put them on steel models?

I always though it'll be gold or platinum

Your right. I have never seen any jewels set on a stainless steel rolex model.

I'm sure if you were ever to see that it would be aftermarket.

28, turning 29 in October.

i'm probably going to rewatch the vid before i go to sleep. there are some really good episodes and some really weak ones. John's are 2 of the best.

It’s funny that vintage Daytona’s have priced so many people out in just a handful of years. At or near retail, I’d buy 20 modern just to put them away for a few decades.

speaking of straps, when my watch comes with it, i usually replace it right away and keep the og in new condition

Pretty much. Got my BLNR this time last year, straight onto an Everest band, and still have yet to wear it.

30 here.

A couple of my faves...

Biver is a true innovator within the industry

Im from the UK so don't know his sporting achievements but this gentleman's collection and attitude towards horology is admirable

For nostalgia alone.

The content is definitely on the decline. Definitely considering unsubbing.

he used to have good content but the way he talks and presents make me super sleepy :lol

but the channels I try to watch if i can are:
(outside of ablogtowatch & hodinkee)

bruce williams - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaRodMWenne0HEEvwc2b3pw/videos
his vids tends to be short and has great shots

time & tide - https://www.youtube.com/user/timetidewatches/videos
vids are also short with nice shots and straight to the point

I unsubbed once I out grew his content, which was pretty quickly. Got tired of the Squale banter, and tbh he’s just kinda corny. The drama in his fb group and the fact that many other reviewers refuse to even say his name these days are enough for me to dismiss him.

Yeah I find the whole "gentry" persona is false as we are a year apart in age and he grew up in the same area as I did and there wasn't many distinguished English gentleman around. The watches he promotes are often supplied to him by companies which he gives mostly glowing reviews but often sells during his state of the collection videos. And then there was how he treated Archie, Christian and Federico he seems like a snake.

Watchfinder put out great stuff. I bought my sub from them.

Bulgari watches are definitely slept on and for me a bit of a guilty pleasure. They make some beautiful pieces. The octo finissimo is amazing, getting a chrono that thin is a work of technical excellence.

I've tended to think of them as a jewelry company, they possibly own the Gerald Genta name?
