The Tyler Perry conundrum

His recent movie for colored girls had a brother thinking though.....

I still feel that the characteristics of his characters are WAY to extreme though. Not every man is a cheat and wants to go out violating women

and he didnt write for Colored Girls...

i still haven't read the book but as good as it was it was still off...

why are people still saying colored and having back room abortions in modern day harlem?

i dont have a problem w/Tyler Perry movies cuz minus the christian part they aren't any different than lifetime movies but a thread doesnt pop up every few months about them...

my problem is the people who have a problem w/them but aren't making anything to show another side of black peopple...Perry found his niche so why would he do anything different...the directors and writers and producers that don't like it should get together and make something...

there isn't enough diversity in black entertainment IMO

People fail to realize that he is in it just like everyone else...for the money. like someone else said he found a niche and hes rocking with it. It comes down to the individual who watches his movies to make their own assessments of life...and if they are too uneducated to conceptualize fallacies from his movies and actualities of real life then thats on them.

People can't get past his Madea character and realize once you get passed that, his movies are far more positive than negative. Nobody remember Cicely Tyson's speech to young black men and women in Madea's Family Reunion. Maya Angelou was in that as well. Even if you don't like the religious overtones, at the end of all his movies, the solution comes down to themes like family being there for each other through thick and thin, and I don't think you can argue that's bad for black folk.
