It's 2013. It's expected that you're monitoring Twitter 24/7.

On that note, Twitter tells me that Puma (?!) will be Arsenal's kit supplier from the 14/15 season.

Dont have twitter. :frown:

I read that story about the rumored Puma deal earlier but we've been linked with Adidas and re-upping with Nike in the past year and if I remember correctly each time some silly number has be touted along with it. I'll believe it when its confirmed on Arsenal.com but until then its just papers/websites trying to lure in traffic. If they continue to throw random amount of money around that we are supposedly going to bring in they can continue to link us with everyone under the sun.

I look forward to reading about still being in talks with Falcao and Casillas and being linked with Messi or some stupid ****.

Here is the link for those who havent seen it.

Hello kitty! Arsenal agree £170m kit deal with Puma.. the biggest in English football

New agreement should see Arsène Wenger spend big in the summer with a reported £70m transfer budget

No more excuses! Wenger will have money to spend now

Arsenal have agreed the biggest kit deal in English football with sports giants Puma.

They have struck an agreement worth in excess of £30m-a-year which could see the five year contract worth £170m in total.

The deal worth more than Liverpool’s new £25m-a-year contract with Warrior and brings to an end Arsenal’s 20-year tie-up with Nike.

The deal, which will not be announced officially for some time, will give Arsenal major additional financial clout on top of the £150m five year shirt sponsorship deal with Emirates.

Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has already been promised £70m to spend on transfer targets this summer as the club looks to rebuild and strengthen the squad.

Fiorentina’s striker Stevan Jovetic tops the list of targets but his price could go above £20m and that would be new territory for Arsenal.

Kop that! Arsenal deal exceeds Warrior's £25m-per-year promotion of Liverpool
However, the new kit deal will give them confidence that they can spend big.

It will also be a major coup for Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis on top of the Emirates deal and will strengthen his belief that the club are making major strides forward off the pitch which will enable them to compete for the biggest signings.

The new agreement dwarfs the current kit deal with Nike, which is worth £55m over seven years and expires at the end of NEXT season.

American sportswear giant will now concentrate on Manchester United, Barcelona and the England team. They are also due to renegotiate with United shortly as their current 15 year deal worth £287m is due to expire soon.

Nike had an exclusive renegotiation clause with Arsenal which has now expired and they have clearly decided not to renew. Nike declined to comment last night. Arsenal are also bound by a confidentiality agreement.

A source close to Nike said: “Nike were keen to work with Arsenal, keen to keep it going, but not at any price.”

Adidas were in pole position for the Arsenal deal and had even put forward designs but they announced last month that they would not be bidding. Liverpool’s kit makers Warrior were also keen.

But Puma are understood to have blown the opposition away in negotiations with Arsenal who were driving a hard bargain.

Puma were Tottenham’s kit makers before Under Armour and are clearly hoping that a tie-up with Arsenal will put them back as major players in the football market.

Furthermore, Puma have strong links with the African market and that is an area where they believe Arsenal are particularly strong and have even bigger potential.

Arsene Wenger needs to spend this summer.  Would love to have Cesc and Song back w/ the Gunners.  An elite striker is very much needed as well.  I'm over these dudes he keeps bringing for Ligue 1.

Arsenal going to Puma is the world telling Arsenal "you're not relevant anymore". Nike and Adidas backed out, wow.

Arsenal need some titles man, management needs to step it up. They're due

Sounds more like Nike made an offer, just nowhere near the 30mil per year Puma was offering.

Mo at it again

Mourinho: "Pepe's position is easy to analyse. His problem is called Varane."

Mou: "It's not easy for Pepe to be steamrollered by a 19 year old kid [Varane] but that's the law of life. The kid is fantastic."

"We have now all seen what Barcelona without Lionel Messi is like. Dumped out of the [Champions League] semi finals by Bayern"

Mourinho—"Iniesta can have his opinion on Casillas, but he really ought to worry about his own team and what happens when Messi isn't there"

Mourinho: "I like Diego Lopez more than Casillas, its simple. There is nothing personal"

LOL @ Jose dropping Pepe from the squad for tomorrow after his comments to the press

Maybe, it's just Nike and Adidas sponsor the best and most popular teams. Arsenal still popular but they haven't won in forever. Nike would have matched it if Arsenal was still a champion level team, no doubt.

I for one am angry. Nike kits for Arsenal were classy, I'm going to miss them. Now were going to see the puma logo stapled all over the shirt, sleeves, everywhere. That's what I don't like. I have a Henry jersey, that year they wore burgundy all season :smokin

No Nike and Arsenal kit is going to be weird.

I knew when we became Nike from Adidas in 1999, something good would happen...it seems like we are going backwards by going to Puma.

:smh:

Nike is paying us £7m a year. I'll repeat, we get £7m a year from Nike currently. Its a laughable sum. They are part of the reason we are in this mess as we cant compete financially for wages to current players or transfers for incoming players as shirt supplier is a major revenue source for club (even more so for AFC as we look to be "self sufficient"). [Yes the deal was front loaded to secure stadium construction financing, but we got bent over no two ways about it]

Money talks in this game now. Bottom line. If Nike or Adidas dont want to give us an offer to put us on par with the teams we compete against on the pitch and in the transfer market then I'm all for the switch (as much as it pains me to say since I obviously like Nike). Adidas backed out of Liverpool despite being their 4th largest shirt seller behind Madrid, Munich and Chelsea, so Liverpool linked up with Warrior who offered them £25m a year. I'll take Puma's £30m p/y if thats the most on the table.

With all that said it really is disheartening if you look in the long term though. Arsenal will have soon re-upped with Emirates for shirt sponsor at £15m --> £30m and its the shirt supplier will be re-upped from £7m --->£30m so we are finally looking like we can compete because that will put us up there with almost anyone else in the world currently. Then you realize that United signed a £51m p/y deal with Chevy for their shirt sponsor from 2014, going to get £18m p/y for their freaking TRAINING GROUND from AON and are re-upping with Nike with initial reports/rumors being in the £50m-£70m p/y range. :smh:

Just to simply show just how bad it'll be...

Projected Major Revenues (per year)
Arsenal: £30m (Shirt supplier) + 30m (Shirt And Stadium sponsor) = 60m
United: £50m-£70m (shirt supplier) + £51m (shirt sponsor) + 18m (stadium naming) = £119m-£139m

Its ridiculous , the financial gap will be the same if not worse...it sucks.

Chelsea is only getting 18 million from Samsung coming off a chsmpions league win. so if you get 30 from Puma, you take that and run

someone probably took the story about SAF possibly missing the beginning of the season cause of hip surgery and ran with it

If I remember correctly, Audi gives the Barca first team cars

So this what Ivan Gazidis does  . Also keep in mind that Arsenal is signing a new TV deal this summer also, which should be nicely sized. And some secondary deals on the way. Even though Puma is a step down from Adidas and Nike, seeing what they have done for BVB and a lot of Africa national teams clubs and etc, I'm not too worried. We do need the money, we need to be competitive again. Tapping into Africa's untapped market is major. Apparently in an interview Giroud said Puma pays better. Wonder if it's true. Maybe they're generous where others rather not take a gamble  but yet again Cesc is with Puma.

JAY-Z WANTS NEYMAR TO JOIN ROC NATION
MAY 7TH, 2013

Well, you could see this coming a mile away…

Brazilian superstar Neymar, who with his array of showy jewelry and stylish haircuts is clearly much cooler than Lionel Messi, is reportedly rap mogul Jay-Z’s number one target to join Roc Nation’s brand-new sports agency. This according to Yahoo! Sports which translated this article by Spanish newspaper Sport:

“Roc Nation” is creating a segment focused on sports and the idea of its creators is to transform players into real stars with global impact and visibility, which is why Santos player Neymar is one of the priority sports to be “signed to” by the entertainment company.
Neymar would join Robinson Cano of the New York Yankees and Skylar Diggins of the WNBA in rap mogul Jay-Z’s rapidly-growing agency he started earlier this year.

In addition, the report states that Jay-Z also has his eye on fellow Brazilian soccer studs Lucas Moura and Leandro Damião, as well as Jon Jones, the current UFC light heavyweight champion.

Coincidentally, a potential stumbling block to the deal is the last great Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldo, whose own sports marketing firm 9ine signed Neymar to an image rights deal in 2011.

I think Jay-Z could have a positive role in making soccer bigger in the US.

Real and Barca both get Audis.. i think united use to as well back when they were a sponsor. I thought SAF banned all the younger players from the camaros and the corvettes, Wayne seemed really unimpressed... Evra: "White people are jealous of my car"
