I don't think you're gonna get high quality basketball if you go straight into the playoffs after 30+ days off

The league suspended the schedule on March 11th, 30 days from March 11th is April 10th and the final day of the regular season is April 10th. Depending on each team schedule, that gives you a regular season game or two (for some teams, three games) to get ready for the playoffs. It's obviously not an ideal situation but it's still much better than the alternative. Having the regular season and in mid July and then turn around and have NBA training camp begin in late September is a recipe for disaster for the 20-21 season

So push next season back 30 days

It all comes down to how much do they want to maintain the current schedule vs push it back. They are in the prime position to push it back but I think the challenge lies in the that if they push it back, it’s kind of permanent because reverting back to what we have now would be too difficult.

This about that impact of that though. The NBA starting the 20-21 season mid-November either means that a) the league will play a much tighter schedule in next season (more back-to-backs and 3 games in 4 nights, etc.) so that they can catch up and make up for the league starting 30 days later or b) going forward the NBA will just starting in mid-November and end in Mid-July. Both of those options are worse than just going straight into the 2020 playoffs, IMO

Why would it be worse? They were just talking about how pushing the season back could benefit the league. I'm just going off what silver said about finishing the regular season when they come back, I don't think they're gonna have a truncated season

People are gonna be excited/happy just to see nba basketball after so long, they won’t even care how it looks lol
Realistically you'd want to give the players at least 2-3 weeks to ramp up their bodies before the post season

Going straight into Playoff basketball is begging for another KD/Klay situation

Maybe there's a middle ground where the league can push back the season 2 weeks and allow teams to play the final 6-8 games of the season and then go into the playoffs.

I think they'll finish the season normally at a 82 game pace.

Next years season will either have a shortened summer league/preseason or start in mid November like years past.

Yeah we shouldn't tempt fate. Let everyone warm up and get their legs/joints/lungs back. I would like 10 games but also don't cram like 3 games in 4 nights and **** like that
