They got that now. Spring90 is the code i believe if you buy 2 or more. Decided to purchase 2 for the HTC One M9. Came out to be 6 bucks shipped.

saw something about it on android central this morning and ordered 2 of the spartan protectors for the M9 as well. $6 shipped. all the reviews for that glass protector looked great so i'll give it a chance

it's a ******* button.

Lol, alright, wise guy. Let's not pretend like Apple didn't sue Samsung for billions over small design cues. If it were all so simple, everyone could make a circular physical home button, power button on the right, volume on the left and call it a day. It's all about differentiation in the phone market, so why make aspects of your current-year model look like another brand's.

But you're not gonna be like " Oh damn, that BUTTON reminds me of the Samsung." It's the whole package and how its presented. Yeah, the button looks the same, but nothing else. In Samsung's case, the WHOLE phone looked like the iPhone. Apple didn't sue over a button..

There's only but so many functional shapes you can have for a fingerprint sensor.  Square, straight rectangle, rounded rectangle, circle. C'mon now

I think Lurkin was right when he said we need to take a step back.  Things are getting too dumb over phone brands that are paying none of us in here

Except that's exactly what I and many others said when they saw the button. All I did was point out an obvious observation with neutral thoughts on the matter, yet dudes getting bent out of shape trying to naysay (not directed at you). Anyway. Like I stated before, it's strange that HTC would take a design element from a direct competitor. Sure there's only so many shapes you can have, but why put it in the same spot with the same shape. For instance, isn't it rumoured that G4 has a sensor in the back? That's differentiation.

Is it? The HTC One Max had a finger print scanner on the back. It's different when you talk to tech enthusiasts. We see it as the same button Samsung had, the general public probably doesn't. Agree to disagree I suppose

Anyone use Quick Charge? Damn adapters cost 35 bucks, is it worth it?

let's clear something up in here. True "tech-heads" are realistic with their expectations of technology. The cellphone/smartphone game has brought quite a few pseudo tech-heads into the fold and that's the problem we tend to run into. If you really knew the history of computer technology you'd know that a lot of our favorite companies would not be here without some sort of "theft" of ideas and implementations. None of the companies hands are clean in that manner.

I say this both from the perspective of a technology enthusiast for many years, but also as a former employee of Apple Corporate (not retail).

I was considering getting it for my Moto X, but the regular charger does just fine.

but as I'll say over and over, the true technological advancements are few and far between. this idea that a new flagship should come out every year is stupid. it's stupid for the manufacturers to announce a new flagship each year as it creates this false idea in consumers that a big change will come each year.

companies have done a great job of tricking us into thinking we should buy a new phone more than once every 3 years, much less new phones released by different manufacturers within a 3 month period. it's akin to wine tasting now, with us obsessing over subtle differences in aesthetics and taste.

edit: quick charge changed my life. next step will be to get wireless charging.

The best technological enhancement in the past few years was quick charge feature but the battery tech hasn't changed at all cell phones are still using lithium ion batteries. In the near future it's looking like aluminum batteries are next up they can charge from 0-100 in less than a minute and are probably gonna become the standard in flagships.

Thing is...when they seal the battery in the damn phone you pretty much have to buy a new one every 1.5 years. A two year old battery is practically worthless. A 3 yr old battery probably wouldn't make it 4 hours off the charger :lol

naw. 4k screens

Multi tasking

Boom sound

The new cameras.

S pen

Every aspect really of smartphones has gotten tremendeouslyyy better in the course of the past 5 years... Its because there is so much competition :hat

Jus because you got all the same apps n same os doesnt mean things arnt getting wayyy better

^ true. the positive is, as you're saying, an acceleration in development (and prices have stayed reasonable). really the only thing that hasn't taken off is batteries. quick charge is a big step but we still need a battery that can last days with low or moderate use.

Cottamn was just about to post this, you mad quick, son. But yeah, dude was a huge fan of the M8, seems like he really wanted to give the M9 props but nah. HTC bout to have a 2014Samsung year.

Amazon product ASIN B00QEX83LA
i copped that one. only $15 and its qualcomm certified. almost every review of the 111 is 5 stars. id recommend that

It's easier said than done considering the amount of space for batteries to be in these phones is getting smaller and smaller because phones are getting thinner and lighter. It's going to require new technology or a major refinement of what's out now. Then of course when new battery tech comes out it will be expensive until they are produced in numbers that approach the economy of scale.

Yeah opened up youtube it was there in my subscriptions.

Maybe next year HTC will switch to Sony sensors. From sample shots I've seen .. The camera is terrible in regards that it doesn't take good photos consistently.

Which spingen case is good for the s6 edge? Not into the bulky case like the otto box. And does anyone know of a good screen protector for the s6 edge?

yeah i quickly forget just how far batteries have come. for something so small and light to power such nice screens and to last for up to 1000 cycles is a great feat on its own. I remember the old days of trickle charging those yellow AAs that would last for about 20 minutes on some portable electronic game with maybe 16 pixels.

When people say they aren't impressed with the flagships out now it makes me wonder what exactly are they expecting out of a smartphone...I mean that's realistically possible at this point :lol

That's like a guy looking to buy one of the current hypercars and saying "Just test drove the McLaren P1, not impressed, wonder what's coming out in the next few years". :rollin

You have to admit that this year's flagships are a step back in some aspects though. It'd be like if Tesla made a new Roadster that goes 0-60 in half the time but can only drive for half an hour. What's the point? The S6 could've been made a couple mm more thick to accommodate a larger battery. M9 could've used OIS. Like there's just small things all across the board that could've easily been implemented to either keep the phones on the same level as the previous years or improve them, but they weren't done.

I agree, I did like some new feature to the S6s but I personally feel they trying to stay in apple's lane. WHY?! :|
why take away the SD card reader?
why take away the finger print sensor?

you get my drift...

Yeah, so, this Xiaomi Mi5 looks like its coming to the US in June 2015 for $350.

I'm looking forward to this company shaking things up, I've read a lot of good things about them.

I get a Spigen case for every phone I get now, love them.

Check the eBay store though they usually have them cheaper.

That phone looks good. I'm hoping that by the time I want another phone for real which is probably late 2016/2017 companies like these are in abundance and I dont have to pay an arm and a leg for a phone.

Agreed, the competition is more than welcome. People love their note series that was released a while back.
