Why Are So Many Successful Black Women Unmarried?

because they're over 21 and don't wear sneakers.

succesful black women are too quick to throw their success in the face of a man, and then if it aint working that be the reason.

every man aint threatened by a womans success. some are just turned off.

Don't nobody love black men more than a black woman--whether or not it is in her/our best interest. Look at these dam songs we got about praising and trying to uplift black men.

none of those songs have the cultural impact that a Beyonce record does though. They largely go under the radar. It's unfortunate.

negative successful black men are usually with women that are either A.broke/grinding B.college GF C. women who are very supportive/nurturers D. or just all out fine/dimes some are successful some not
What's your personal definition of a successful black man?

As a black man who dates college and working black women ages 18-26 i can tell that these women are never going to get married
i always laugh when i see chicks claiming that this dude is they hubby and dudes saying thats wifey. I for one know that i will be able to get
married without a problem. we should all have standards
my standards are for women in general not just a black woman so there-for my options are bigger and wider and the amount of women i have to choose from are all across the globe. Black women are gonna be singles ladies for another decade with their high standards for American Black Men
laugh.gif
they need to stop kidding themselves and get to traveling
Are you a successful black man? I must ask this before I start.

a successful black man is any one that has his own home whether rental or mortgage preferable mortgage , a job/or own business and whether single or in arelationship is mature and financially stable enough to potentially support a wife and any children.

NAH.

This thread was a good read, lots of knowledge dropped in here.

As for the women in the video I have no problem with them wanting to be with someone on their level. When it comes to matters of the heart you should neversettle, but some of their "standards" are just unreasonable and because of these "standards" more often than not some good men areoverlooked.

FTR. all those women in the video are bad too.

I think what we grow up around plays a huge part in this.I going to assume that a lot of these Women grew up just like I did, because lets betruthful a lot of Men and Women in the "Black Community" did not grow up in ideal households and very few of us are born into generational wealth.

And what they are attracted to and what is good for them are two different things unfortunately.Just like me,I grew up around a lot of "Hoodrats" andlackluster females, but I assumed that this was the norm, until I started to observe my surroundings and found out how a Woman are supposed to act and carryherself.

The sad thing about these stories is that they know what they have to do and I don't mean settle for anything. But I can tell subconsciously that they havelittle to no respect for Black Men,especially when we have had an Maternal/Black Church led community for the last 40 years and the whole "Black Menain't ____" is a very profitable business even in this day and age.

Also to play off some of what Tariq Nasheed has said in his podcast, things don't become better for Men until later on in life, especially if you are aBlack Man,not too many like the idea of a Black Men in a authoritve position either it be the household or in a corporate position...some can't even getjobs I learned from a thread that was posted a few weeks about Black Ivy League graduates that had to trick employers into believing they are White.

Like I have said before, either be Michelle Obama or Oprah...can't be both.

A lot of people say this. If you haven't noticed a difference between women who are raised around both parents and women who aren't t hen you need to date more/interact with more women.
It's nothing worse than grown people that don't/can't read with comprehension. I didn't say nothing about not knowing thedifference I said I never had a dude tell me they not messing with a chick because of it. Once again thanks for not reading what I said correctly thenassuming I don't talk to enough chicks because we disagree. I'll blame it on being late at night maybe the words not looking right this early in themorning

I agree w/ the points u mentioned. The whole "Black men aint *!!+" mentality as destroyed the image of the Black man. One thing that wasbrought to my attention in my Sex and Racism class is that for Black men and the Black race, the negative attributes are given to the whole race not just theperson/people who have said attributes.

It's also depends on who's angle you're looking at the situation from. In my position (young Black man, future college graduate, one child, motivated, etc) to the women in the hood, I'm a good man cause I want more out of life than to be runnin the streets. But from the other angle, I'm aBlack man who really don't have anything to show for myself, just another young father. The perception is different.

Also, I'm not a Rhodes Scholar or a genius but I am intelligent, motivated, ambitious, a fast learner, etc. but I can't find a job that doesn'tinvolved some type of manual labor to save my life right now. I've done that and it rans its course but it seems that the jobs that are the most"appealing" to Black men are manual labor positions. Am I supposed to have a BA and work in warehouse?

A lot of good points were discussed in this thread, everything I wanted to say has already been mentioned

I can't tell if that's sarcasm? Beyonce works with mostly white people. She gets a few beats and songs from famous black artists like Ne-Yo,Bryan-Michael Cox and so on but for the most part her squad in the studio is white
