Wrestling Thread September 1st-3rd/ Weekend Edition/ Mae Young Classic Available Now First 4

former IBF boxing champion James Toney got his *** kicked in his only mixed martial arts fight and is still regarded as a legend in his sport.

keep it coming, I am digging this debate.
so are you arguing that losing didn't hurt your character, which was the beginning of this debate? or are you arguing he went back to his sport after losing in MMA, which is my point that brock could do the same thing, your agreeing with me on both cases

Vince is an owner of a Sports Entertainment group. What is he promoting? Indy wrestling have promoters, Vince hasnt promoted **** since his days in Portland Maine.

Kayfabe is dead DUE to the internet, in my opinion, but I want to hear why you say kayfabe is dead because of the wrestling business.

The fans didn't stop wrestlers from sleeping at opposite aides of traveling cities

The fans didn't force Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Iron Shiek to get busted getting high while in the middle of feuding

The fans didn't invite damn Lawrence Taylor in to whoop Bam Bam Bigelow

The fans didn't blow themselves up in a Limo only to comeback to TV doon after

The fans don't invite stupid actors to come to RAW to smack around talent

Do I need to continue?

I am arguing that losing hurts some personas more than others. basic sociology ****.

with life in general, whose status is hurt more by a negative result, an entitled individual or a hopeful individual?

someone who talks about how they're going to crush everything in their path like a Mack truck and heavy debt better be winning, or they're going to be a laughingstock.

someone who exhibits pride in what they do and the intent to keep fighting win or lose will garner support with either result.

it boils down to backing up the **** you talk.

And I love how yall all of a sudden care about kaufabe.

Anytime me, Cornette, Case, or Gunna I brought it up we were grumpy old men.

But now....nvm
i never really cared about kayfabe, but i thought keeping heels separated from faces was the least you could do....... these mfs take a picture at GOT D**N DISNEYLAND 2 weeks before an ambulance match

well if it hurts some ppl, so gets to determine who those people are, backing it up in MMA yes, but you don't choose your outcome in wrestling, all you can control is how you sell your character

Look at Bray Wyatt. He's a glorified jobber. Loses every big meaningful feud he's in. He can't back up his talk with wins, so everyone is tired of him. If you're booked to lose all the time, people don't take you seriously

yea, the lone wolf no one cares about, even with the briefcase I didn't have him ranked over rusev, and without the briefcase he is still the 4th SD heel

So your argument boils down to "I still like him so he is in a good place"

The fact that you think Corbin (2 weeks ago) had a lower power rating than Rusev makes that clear

not a matter of liking or disliking him, I didn't care what he was doing, he is boring, I don't buy into him, but he was still 4th because of the spot they put him in, rusev was 3rd because he has a better body of work and a better character

are we applying that to strowman, because he hasn't won yet, or joe?

yes, but when you start getting your *** kicked in other combat sports you gotta shut the front door.

your "character" is therefore invalid.

you think Prince Naseem could have gotten away with dancing in the ring if he wasn't also putting fools on the mat?

Bones is literally only famous and free because he can beat people up.

man, The Greatest is only The Greatest because he was The Greatest, otherwise he would have been just some jive talking negro boxer.

selling your character is a part of life, and if being good at what you do is part of that character, that is part of selling the character.

Donald Trump.

My buddy brings it up all the time. I keep telling him you can be nostalgic, but wrestling is not what it was like when we were kids, and before that. It just isn't going to be with mass/social media. Those days are really intriguing from a performance standpoint because you really had to live that character you portrayed, but now, I just don't believe it is possible.

I don't ever get upset at people bringing up kayfabe, but my first response is usually "it's dead, now go on..." The only way I see it working is when the news/media cycle is behind/"irrelevant" to the immediate target demo. NJPW for example and E fans here. You show them a picture of Golden Lovers, 9 out of 10 are gonna tell you it's two dudes about to do some gay for pay, not a tag team duo that is "playing" up a queer character gimmick/angle in a wrestling promotion abroad.

Or Asuka in Nazi Clown paint. You are gonna get calls of "weird japanese porn fetish movie" and not Joshi performer who loves over the top theatrics and toys with nationalistic historical imagery (which still is such an odd thing I cannot even understand with Japan lol). An average E fan that had no idea prior would just write it off as Japan being weird with tentacles and stuff, generalizing and sounding like ignorant.

what is your point so I can't explain my opposition, I've already explained in wrestling is different, people want cm punk back after he lost, although he is BITW

Nonsense

Corbin had the MITB briefcase and was in a program with the face of the company

Rusev was just a body for Orton to pin

I know the homie @bigego24 is gonna hate me for this, but with all the chances Randy has had, can't Vince just agree with the audience to not push him anymore?

In my mind, he really is becoming what bringing Stone Cold back was for a bit. Show up, stunner, leave.

Randy, show up, RKO, leave. The Rusev thing was out of nowhere, and the Bray program was pretty poor after he turned on the family, which I was really confused by in the first place when he joined.

I dunno, he coasts a lot (awaiting the Swags does it remark lol), he gets *** pained when someone botches and hurts people/takes it out on them, has a piss poor attitude. I don't know what more writing on the wall you need to cut bait with a guy unless he has some Lewinsky like dirt on you.
