i actually think this is probably true, however it doesn't or shouldn't really diminish truth to some of the things he is saying...
true, because he associates those brands with how they are perceived at this moment in time and those elusive terms of 'luxury' & 'quality' he seemingly wants to skip the building necessary to get to that point; probably precisely because he knows how hard that would be?
actually it sort of makes sense with the type of producer he has been, and his start with the roc. he wants the co-sign, a benefactor, he sees these corporations as the modern version of the medici to his michelangelo. i think maybe he is moving away from having to make music & doesn't have that other revenue stream those like jay & diddy had access to with sean john & rocawear (or doesn't think that would work for him? or isn't up to his standard of quality?) and trying to get up & running with other creative endeavors while he is still relevant?
on that breakfast club interview, in the midst of all his random thoughts & pre-planned rantings & bullet points, he gave one the more thoughtful responses to the why hov over dame question i had ever heard, and that makes me think maybe kanye has thought about the broader context of this whole thing

Controversy sells, if anything, Kanye is that. And then he backs controversy with his music, his concerts, his shoes, and maybe his clothes...
He wants backing, because he is wasting time trying to get this company off the ground
And because he can't get the company off the ground, he can't put work in the music, the shoes, the concerts.
and if he can't make great music (which hes proven he can) his relevancy goes down.
If his relevancy goes down, then his product won't sell as much.
the problem with kanye, is that he wants to do everything.
which is also what a lot of people like about Kanye.
Regardless, if he doesn't get the company off the ground or not, he is easily, the most entertaining entertainer there is.
From his wife, to his relationship with paparazzi, to his music, to his concerts, to his fashion...
We absolutely can not question his ambition, his work ethic, and his knowledge. Pioneer at his finest. But he has to work on people skills. Egomaniac. then again he doesn't have to work on anything cuz he Kanye (which is probably what he thinking lol)
