Seriously !

I haven't been able to keep up with all of the NBA off season free agency stuff. I'm in Germany right now. Also if you think Vince Carter is a lotbetter than Hedo is than your a fool. VC is not the VC he was early in his career in Toronto when he was a top 5 player in the league. Heck right now VC is noteven top 10 in the NBA. The Magic may look better on paper but Hedo was a better fit for their team, he's a better spot up 3 point shooter and plays betterdefense than VC. VC & defense

those 2 words have and never will beassociated with him. As far as VC 3 point shooting and mid range game is concerned the guy is above average but is also a very streaky shooter.

Just look at it this way 3 of the Magic's starting 5 players from last year's team that made the Finals are gone !. You can have all the talent in theworld on one team but it don't mean that team will be a favorite to make it to the Finals or win a championship. A good example is the 2003-2004 Laker teamwhen they had Shaq, Kobe, GP, and the Mailman.

Magic also added Brandon Bass, Matt Barnes, and will have Jameer Nelson back for the season. So, yeah.......

To go with keeping Gortat and adding Vince.

On paper right now, they are the best team in the league. After we re-sign Odom, then we claim that spot back.

Bass, carter, barnes, healthy jameer

the magic look promising.

and kobe always seem to have a hard time against carter

Man I wish this lamar would sign already. I can get a lamar authentic for 40% off but I don't want to pull the tigger until I know what's up...

We can't afford Iverson. In fact, there's very little we can afford since we're over the cap. We already used our MLE to sign Artest and ourBAE/LLE to sign Brown. Can we even sign a player to the veteran's minimum? We are allowed to re-sign Odom for more than that because he played for us lastseason.

People keep asking why not sign David Lee or Allen Iverson. The answer is simply because we can't.
A logical endgame: Udonis for Lamar

> Posted by Ira Winderman on July 29, 2009 01:35 AM
So the Lakers don't want to commit significant long-term money to a 30-year-old Lamar Odom? Understood, considering where they find themselves against the dollar-for-dollar luxury tax.

So the Heat isn't as concerned because just about all of its salaries come off the books after the coming season, when few are expected to be re-signed? Understood, as well.

So why not make it work for all parties involved, including Odom, who certainly is worth more than the $5.9 million mid-level exception?

Here's how: Work out a sign-and-trade agreement utilizing the expiring contract of Heat power forward Udonis Haslem.

For the Lakers, it provides a capable option for the power rotation behind Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, one who is championship tested. And it still leaves the Lakers with Ron Artest and Luke Walton at small forward to fill in for that aspect of Odom's game.

For Odom, it means being able to start a contract with the Heat at about $9 million, the figure he has been working with in his dealings with the Lakers. The difference is the Heat appears willing to guarantee more seasons.

So, to recap: The Lakers would get something tangible for Odom. Odom would get his money, and not be left sulking as a mere "mid-level" player. And the Heat would reduce its glut at forward and open a clear rotation role for Michael Beasley.

Has it already been discussed? Considering the Lakers' hard line, who knows? But it certainly would seem to make sense for all involved.

Rumors are all over the place now...

Ireland on ESPN.

-- Talk to Lakers today. Lakers have an offer on the table and are not sure what the hold up is on LO's end. They have the most money on the table ( per year not in total years)

Lakers are essentially waiting on LO
link to a blog on the General board says two things... http://lakersguy.blogspot.com/

1 - Odom met with Wade and Riley and respectfully DECLINED their MLE offer....

2 - Odom and his agent are set to meet with Buss tomorrow and if he puts a 4th year or the 3/30 back on the table he will sign right there....

dont know if this blogger is reliable but since EVERY possible source is being quoted I figured to throw this out there...
Last but not least

AM 570 is reporting that Lamar Odom is being traded to Miami

I haven't heard this but I am on the search.

Damn....

I would not mind getting Haslem at all,

if we cannot re-sign Lamar that would be a very nice alternative option

i would start haslem and make bynum come off the bench lol haslem reminds me of horrace grant :P

Trading for Haslem is obviously better than letting Lamar leave for nothing. But Lamar declining the Miami offer makes me think he's going to come back toLA for sure.

Odom is the only option for me.. If he doesn't come back then we'll just have to do it with the team we got.

Ima be at a funeral tomorrow, so I'll be out til Friday......if this deal goes down, I won't be happy, but it is better then nothing. Haslem is betterthen letting LO walk, so I can't be too mad at that.

All said though, if he turned down that MLE offer, and just wants a little extra money from Buss, and we could simply offer that money and keep him and notworry about getting Haslem adjusted to his role, and keep the extra ball handler that Odom is and the extra creator as well as locker room fav, that's mychoice.

Hope it ends the way we want it. Come on Lamar, sign the deal.

Same here. I am not 100% confident we can repeat this year without him coming off the bench.

Leave Odom alone man. This is the only time he's ever been wanted in his whole career. Instead of teams trying to get rid of him, they're finallyfighting for him. He's milking this for all it's worth.

I love haslem as a player but we need a 4 that can step behind the 3 point line and start the offense if we want to most effective.

Ummm.. so VC was the reason for all of that?

Did you watched all that games?

I'm just asking cause i cant remember most of that games
laugh.gif
..im onlyreferring to the ones i watched..

I know for the fact that Kobe always seemed to force plays (add the fancy stuffs that i mentioned earlier) when goin up against VC ..and that causes him a LOTof turnovers..
