Seriously. I really look at it this way. The Magic took a couple steps back with the off season moves they made. Losing Turgolu and then trading Courtney Lee & Rafer for Halfman/Half a season. Also losing Gortat was a big loss for them.just stop ... you cant have an opinion if u dont even know whos playing on one team...
btw vince carter >>>>> hedo
VC is better than turk...vc played consistant this season and he finally played 80 gamesOriginally Posted by Notorious 858

I haven't been able to keep up with all of the NBA off season free agency stuff. I'm in Germany right now. Also if you think Vince Carter is a lot better than Hedo is than your a fool. VC is not the VC he was early in his career in Toronto when he was a top 5 player in the league. Heck right now VC is not even top 10 in the NBA. The Magic may look better on paper but Hedo was a better fit for their team, he's a better spot up 3 point shooter and plays better defense than VC. VC & defensethose 2 words have and never will be associated with him. As far as VC 3 point shooting and mid range game is concerned the guy is above average but is also a very streaky shooter.
Just look at it this way 3 of the Magic's starting 5 players from last year's team that made the Finals are gone !. You can have all the talent in the world on one team but it don't mean that team will be a favorite to make it to the Finals or win a championship. A good example is the 2003-2004 Laker team when they had Shaq, Kobe, GP, and the Mailman.
A logical endgame: Udonis for Lamar

> Posted by Ira Winderman on July 29, 2009 01:35 AM
So the Lakers don't want to commit significant long-term money to a 30-year-old Lamar Odom? Understood, considering where they find themselves against the dollar-for-dollar luxury tax.
So the Heat isn't as concerned because just about all of its salaries come off the books after the coming season, when few are expected to be re-signed? Understood, as well.
So why not make it work for all parties involved, including Odom, who certainly is worth more than the $5.9 million mid-level exception?
Here's how: Work out a sign-and-trade agreement utilizing the expiring contract of Heat power forward Udonis Haslem.
For the Lakers, it provides a capable option for the power rotation behind Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, one who is championship tested. And it still leaves the Lakers with Ron Artest and Luke Walton at small forward to fill in for that aspect of Odom's game.
For Odom, it means being able to start a contract with the Heat at about $9 million, the figure he has been working with in his dealings with the Lakers. The difference is the Heat appears willing to guarantee more seasons.
So, to recap: The Lakers would get something tangible for Odom. Odom would get his money, and not be left sulking as a mere "mid-level" player. And the Heat would reduce its glut at forward and open a clear rotation role for Michael Beasley.
Has it already been discussed? Considering the Lakers' hard line, who knows? But it certainly would seem to make sense for all involved.

Rumors are all over the place now...
Ireland on ESPN.
-- Talk to Lakers today. Lakers have an offer on the table and are not sure what the hold up is on LO's end. They have the most money on the table ( per year not in total years)
Lakers are essentially waiting on LO
link to a blog on the General board says two things... http://lakersguy.blogspot.com/
1 - Odom met with Wade and Riley and respectfully DECLINED their MLE offer....
2 - Odom and his agent are set to meet with Buss tomorrow and if he puts a 4th year or the 3/30 back on the table he will sign right there....
dont know if this blogger is reliable but since EVERY possible source is being quoted I figured to throw this out there...
Last but not least
AM 570 is reporting that Lamar Odom is being traded to Miami
I haven't heard this but I am on the search.
Damn....

Same here. I am not 100% confident we can repeat this year without him coming off the bench.Originally Posted by Grimey
Odom is the only option for me.. If he doesn't come back then we'll just have to do it with the team we got.

Everytime the play against each other.. Kobe always goes hard on him.. he even tries to toy with him a little bit.. i always noticed Kobe bringing out some fancy dribbles or whatnot to make VC look like a fool..
Ummm.. so VC was the reason for all of that?Originally Posted by imINchucks5
