Also, the V's heel isn't technically all "leathery." It's two piece and I've seen a lot of pics over the years where the top (ankle) part is 'leathery' but the bottom looks just like the material on the rest of the shoe. I'm not debating btw.. my answer is IDK and I have yet to see anything definite. The catalogue stuff (I've seen before) was a great find; its as close as we get to figuring it out but we're really just translating it to subjectively say what we think it means lol.

I worked with Nike for a short time and anytime they brought up a reinforced heel, it was in reference to some kind of technology that supported the heel to prevent rolling an ankle. Kind of like the white spot in these Bball Nikes below. Sometimes its built into the shoe and sometimes its not so obvious. Not sure if this same thing applies to VI's and V's from 90.

I had the 99 Metallic, I don’t know how the quality was on 2016 because I passed on those. I hated the durabuck they used

I might start a riot but the 2007 durabuck > 2016

Lol not sure if your serious but I doubt the 16 pair is going to be better. But I’m picking up a ds pair soon so I’ll let u know. I really never thought we’d see a properly done retro of these but the 2016 pair seems close from pics. I regret passing on them when they dropped but Ima get them now. I do miss that real 3m on my 99 pair

I saw a 99 pair in a consignment store. The durabuck seemed similar. I know the tongue is different.

It does seem similar,I don’t like how the sole has a very blue tint to it but it’ll yellow anyway

I don’t mind the blue sole at all. My pair is still DS for now.

I had the 07 and 2016 pair two years ago and did a comparison in the OG V's thread but we switched sites and all my pics were removed. In my opinion, the 07 and 16 durabuck were different. 16 is more deep black and thicker and probably a bit smoother. 07 Nubuck had that old school feel that we havent seen on retros in a while. Jordans stop using them somewhere around like 09 but Nike retros still used it for a few more years later.

haha I haven't checked this thread in a while and it's funny to see hope still lingering for the pair to be close to the OG. When will you dudes face the fact that it is never happening? Not with infrareds, not with any other retros. 1s are the closest they've gotten to the original, and those are still miles off.

To me the material were different from the 2016. As you stated, I felt the 2016 were to dark and thicker, where as the Supremes were soft and not as dark (2014 infrared 6). Also, the grey lines around the material is what made me love them even more.

Definitely reminded my of the 07, that I went and brought a pair again lol

Don’t get me wrong, I think the Metallics are one of the better “remastered” shoe (other than 1s).

I want the same 2016 durabuck that is thicker. I remember the durabuck from my 2007 Black cat 3s, and 2007 Playoff 8s creased really easy because it’s thinner. The 2000 Infrared 6 durabuck didn’t age well. Maybe the thicker version may hold up better.

Just did a little comparison between the 2016’s and the 2007’s. The biggest difference I can see is the 2016 durabuck is darker. They pretty much feel the same and seem to be the same thickness.
Not much of a difference IMO.
