Asian Culture Discussion Thread

The viet coffee shops I see in Socal looks like they just hire porn stars.

ive actually never been to a viet coffee shop here in the bay. i fall in love too easily.

my bestfriend's crazy *** ex used to work at one in San Jose. homegirl would always tell me to slide thru. couldn't do it. i might **** around and end up giving out my bank routing number.

Possibly speaking from personal experience in San Jose "coffee shops": they get you with the relatively cheap bottle service prices. Next thing you know you and your friends have spent $600 on multiple bottles of Henny/Moet and countless lap dances, but you go home with nothing except regret

If you're really into strip clubs though, I'd say it's better than most big name strip clubs, but again, just a waste of money for me

two holes burned: one in my pocket the other in my heart

they sell alcohol at these coffee shop?? :wow:

The ones that are big in SJ are restaurants/coffee shops by day, strip clubs by night. You can still order a plate of banh xeo while getting a lapdance

So basically the draw is $100-$150 for bottle service, which is cheap compared to the $350+ you pay at regular clubs. If you're going with a couple of other guys, it's pretty affordable per person. The thing is, once you do that, the staff bring over 10 Asian and Latina girls to chill with you, and if you're a degenerate, you'll want to drink and get a dance from every single one. That's what makes it expensive

front of the house is like a hooters-inspired coffee shop. bunch of big chested, 4-foot nothing viet women serving you coffee. but they got the private"backrooms" where **** becomes more gentleman's club like. some of my cousins and homies have wasted invested paychecks there.

just a few years ago, one of them got major local news attention after being shot up or hit by arson, i forget. i don't doubt that there are some mob ties to these cafes

Di vang recommended ? :nerd:

Of course I'm not into that, but I saw some of the older Viet dudes just casually eating dinner with no reaction while their boys were getting lapdances right next to them

Never dated a coffee girl exclusively but I did have a FWB that worked at one. She was half Thai/half Laotian and had one of the nicest butts I’ve ever seen, especially on a slimmer girl. And yes, she was low key nuts but no regrets.

there’s def a lot more to Filipino cuisine than your pancit and egg roll. Most of what’s served in the USA is all the quick fatty fried stuff.

I come from a place in the PI called pámpanga, known for the best cuisine in the country.

my guess for those who have not had a good Filipino food experience in the states is bc the cook is trash not the cuisine

I’ve never gotten bottles, drank alcohol, or stayed later then 7pm at the coffee shops. I’m usually just there with the homies to kick it, watch sports on the tv, play some cards, drink some smoothies and tea, and see some nice T&A.

I can confirm after all of our credit cards got declined. In the end we had to put down all of our phones as collateral while I called BOA in front of three yakuza looking dudes to explain why we were spending $600+ at a Vietnamese restaurant at 2 AM. "Yeah it was just a family dinner event, can you please put it through???"

Good times but I definitely don't miss wasting that much $ and the drama, regret, and hangovers that used to come afterwards

play cards? these places sound so random

Are the San Jose coffee shops still around? Not the bar/club ones but actual coffee shops where the girls are in bikinis and see through dresses serving cafe sau dau and avocado shakes. I remember I went one Sunday afternoon with my buddies and those girls was going all out. Fish net dress and nothing under.

Filipino food is two extremes here, the fast food/turo-turo spots or the sit down upscale/watered down/basic restaurants. The latter are watered down to fit American palates, can't have the extra salty/sour/whatever food lol. Theres been a wave of "authentic" filipino sit down places for the last few years though so hopefully that trend continues.

Kapampangan cuisine, what specific dishes would you recommend? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Some of the ones with bikinis still are, but most of the ones that had nudity got raided after people's girlfriends started complaining on Yelp and putting these spots on blast :smh:

For sure gets overshadowed by other surrounding countries food culture. That was my first experience way back in the day. Since hosts served, wasn’t going to question. Gotta eat when served.
But point the Thread to vids and sites to check out.
Always down to experience new food stuff.
Just not balut. Ever.
