I've been to two Michelin star steak spots in my life a handful of times each.
I swear I feel my experience with em just depends on the cook that day. Lol. I've been wowed and other times it was good but not a wow experience.
Ure not alone, ive gotten street cart meat after omakase meals in NYC .I've had to get McDonalds to fill me up after each expensive Michelin restaurant I've eaten in
I remember the first time I went to one after getting my first real job, I thought "10 course meal? damn it's about to be a feast " only to see that each plate was 99.9% sauce and leaf decoration
I dont like stinky tofu. Fight me bro on top of 101
Not sure if this is 'Asian' culture....but the subjects are Asian people. Incredible story. Literally broke my heart. Made me sad. Made me angry. Had to stop 3-4 times just to let the tears flow. Definitely worth a read. I guess the article has been out for a bit, but I just came across it and had to read it simply because the cover photo looked so much like a photo of one of my family members when they were younger.
Check it out.

She lived with us for 56 years. She raised me and my siblings without pay. I was 11, a typical American kid, before I realized who she was.

I am conversationally fluent in my native language. In ones that I am not, I make sure to study some basic phrases prior to the trip. It'll take like 5 mins of each day but will make your trip so much easier. There's some audio courses online that you can just listen to during your commute. For you dudes that have traveled extensively in Asian countries, how proficient are you in the local language?
i just drooled over my keyboardThe food in Hong Kong is fire too
