Blu-Ray: What's the difference? How much better than DVD? Is it worth buying?

For those interested, Blu-ray.com conducted a "Blu-ray Player Benchmarks" test...

one thing tho worth considering.
more & more blu-rays are coming with digital copies. so you can take that on the go.
please explain this further with more detail and or examples... never heard about this.

I only buy new movies on blu ray and old movies I've never seen on DVD.

Pretty interesting chart... gives some good numbers in there..

@ LG having such close load times as the PS3... even the Sony 350/550 arealmost double the PS3 numbers.



But no doubt the 350/550 are 2 of the best with picture quality

LCDs have better brightness and white levels. Plasmas have better dark picture performance and black levels.

Right now, apparently the best plasma (Kuro) has the best picture quality over the best LCD (XBR.

But there are still some LCDs with better picture quality than some plasmas and vice-versa.

these 3 come with digital copies....

basically u insert the bonus disc into wherever and u can transfer over a digital copy of the movie from disc to your itunes/windows media player.

since were on the topic of hdtv is there a difference between 1080p tvs? i see that there are more expensive sony tvs and less expensive ones but still1080p... theres like so many different models its confusing...

i think i will just get newer movies on blu-ray

for instance, i was telling one of my co-workers i was gonna get wall-e... (move is off the chain btw) and he was like, yeah its a waste to get an animationmovie in blu-ray, not a huge difference.

it looked pretty crisp when i watched it. he is kind of a know it all so i don't really take his words all that seriously. i like to come to my guys at NTfor that friendly, helpful info.

i want to get tdk and hancock as well...

yeah, the above poster is right, the kinds of animations u DONT need on hi-def are cartoon animations like the simpsons movie, the ones u DO wantare CG animations like Wall-E
