Stephen Curry talks: "I don't think it'd hurt to have 2 combo guards"
Stephen Curry just finished his conference call with Bay Area writers.

-STEPHEN CURRY/

Opening statement: This is a dream come true for me. Something I've looked forward to my whole life. Now it's actually happened I'm very excited for this opportuniky. Going to be a different experience for me moving to the West Coast…

But the backcourt Golden State has in position now, with the way they play uptempo getting up and down the floor a high octane offense. .. It's a style I've played growing up, played at Davidson, I'm no stranger at getting up and down the floor. So I'm very excited to taking on this challenge.

-Q: Did you expect to be taken by the Warriors once you got to 7?

-CURRY: I expected them to take me at that point, based on the talks that I've had with Larry Riley and his whole staff. They showed a lot of interest.. thought I was a perfect fit for their system and the direction the team is going in.

A lot of people blowing up New York, thought I'd be disappointed if I didn't go there, but that's not the case at all.

-Q: Did you hear about the Phoenix rumors and what do you think about them, if maybe you're involved?

-CURRY: I passed a tv on through the media circuit and saw the propsed trade or the trade talks.. I just spoke with Larry Riley, he didn't mention it, so I don't know where I fit in with those talks.

I hope I go to sleep a Warrior. So right now I see myself as Warrior.

-Q: Lots of talk whether you're a point guard or a 2, Larry Riley just said you'll be the back up 1 here with some time at 2. What do you consider yourself?

-CURRY: Depends on what Monta Ellis sees himself as-don't know if he's a point or 2 or combo or where I fit into that. I'm a versatile player, I can do both, I have a lot of experience.

I don't think it'd hurt to have two combo guards in the backcourt, with Stephen Jackson. I think that's a very dangerous line-up if you ask me.

-Q: You didn't work out with the Warriors. What happened there?

-CURRY: We went through the talks of trying to schedule a workout, I was going to come do it, didn't workout… the talks kind of drifted a little bit.

Only did four workouts, so a lot of teams I didn't work out for. Just talking with Larry Riley at the beginning, they were very excited about the potential of me being in their organization. We're going to let all that stuff go and now I'm a Warrior.

-Q: Riley said maybe you'll have an impact in December or January. You OK with a little bit of a slow start?

-CURRY: Yeah, I mean, I guess my freshman year in college… it was a little different for me coming in and not knowing what to expect and what my role's going to be on that kind of team. Learn from that and go into this situation where I'll have to be willing to work, make mistakes, be willing to learn from them…

-Q: Did you hear that Phoenix was very interested in you-and may still be interested?

-CURRY: All my info came through my agent and he was on the phone lines… Phoenix was always in the conversation, just at 13 didn't look like a good spot for them to get me. Don't know if that has any relation to these trade talks.

Right now, (with the) Warriors, I see myself as the best fit. We'll see what happens.

-Q: Do you feel any pressure?

-CURRY: That's where I think last year helped me, playing the point guard, go-to guy, the set-up guy basically. I'm no stranger to pressure, the big stage. I can take that pressure and turn it into confidence on the next level.

-Q: Did you talk with Don Nelson?

-CURRY: Yeah, I just got off the phone with him right now. Just a casual first meeting, first conversation. He told me that early, early in the draft process he was pinpointing me, I was the best fit. He's just glad it worked out.

-Q: You're listed at 185 pounds now. You want to put on some weight?

-CURRY: I think I've got to add a little more. But I think it's going to be no problem, with this being my job now, every day waking up, going to the gym. I think it's going to work out as long as I just continue to work and continue to do what's necessary to make that happen.

WHOOOOOOO. I'm so glad the trade talks are dead, at least reported dead. I can breathe now. I hated the trade from the beginning and it got a littlebetter, but I still thought the Warriors were overpaying for Amar'e. I didn't look at the internet for a while hoping trade talks would die. I'mstarting to believe in Riley a little bit now, especially if he killed the talks.

I wanted to give a shoutout

.

Random question, how do you put this grammatically correct? Say I want to say "Amar'e is going to the hole." Would it be correct to say"Amar'e's going to the hole."? It looks weird with 2 apostrophes.

Hella random, I know.

There's not tampering in the NBA right? Haha. If Curry does stay, I wonder what Monta would think about this...And that roster is stillclogged up. Inconsistent PT for Morrow, Bellinelli, Curry, Azubuike.

Trade Maggette and Buike for a big man. We can afford it with our wings... and I can stomach letting these guys go. I would also let go of Stephen Jackson.

There should be enough minutes to go around. It's not like Curry's going to step in right away, so at most it's maybe backup minutes. There are also all those Jackson minutes that Monta and Curry can split. And inconsistent PT is due to Maggette and Jackson if anything. Jackson playing waytoo much and Maggette just playing here. Both are vets who don't have a big enough effect on the young guys where the Warriors need to keep them around(especially for the long term) and they eat up the young players' minutes. Warriors could have had Maggette's contract money for a FA this year (alongwith the minutes) and Jackson's expiring(?) conract. Instead they're both here for another four years and command too much: money, playing time, attention, etc.

Im still not happy about this Stephen Curry pick. I just cant see any conceivable way that the Monta/Curry combo can be a successful 1/2 or 2/1 on a good NBAteam.

The Warriors aren't a good NBA team.

Just think if the Warriors were a baseball team. Only 8 teams make it to the playoffs. Over half of the teams in the NBA make the playoffs every year and theWarriors have still only managed to make it once in the last fifteen years.

dont make any trades
dont make any free agent signings
let everyone get the minutes they deserve
we'll end up with john wall!

And he won't play because he has no jumper.

I realize this. But hopefully one day we will be, and I was just trying to illustrate that I dont feel this duo will work on a good team.

nellie just said he was very high on curry. liked him more than anybody besides blake.
-reminds him of nash
- good fit for GSW
-natural point guard

nellie being nellie.

He has had recent micro-fracture surgery on his knee, he missed months last season with a severe eye injury, and he is known neither as a defensive specialist ora good teammate.
Come on Kawakami. Take some damn grammar classes.
