Florida School Shooting, Over 20 Casualties

Spent the whole morning arguing with this cat on my FB...posted this in the political thread but I’ll post it here...this is the ideology of conservative gun loving trump
Supporters....to hell with all these hypocrites

Cat really tried to pull the “some people too poor to buy food so they need high caliber guns to hunt” card all while being a conservative Trump apologetic

But how do you stop the children of the parents that jump through all those hoops?
you don't

I don't think there is a "cure". These school shooting will happen and other bad things will happen because of guns. But some more hurdles have to be set up to at least make it harder. The gun show loophole in particular is laughable. But

Background checks and evals on households and criminal liability for parents who allow access to their firearms might be an okay start.

I know for a fact that the Maplewood MN wasn't really a "school shooting".
A dumb cop was sitting on a chair talking to someone and a third grader walked up and pulled the trigger while it was in his holster....
knowing that, it makes me wonder how many of the other cases were actual school shootings as in a person opening fire on civilians.

Edit: poor choice of words. My bad.
Right, because upon further research I was unable to confirm the accuracy of this image.

I think any instance of a gun being fired in a school makes the cut.

I guess, but when you hear or read "school shooting" everyone thinks somebody shooting people in a school and not an accidental discharge of an officer's weapon. Like that viral video from years ago of the officer doing a gun safety class in a school and accidentally shot his own foot... I personally wouldn't call that a school shooting, but anyway I do understand it's a problem.

Also just reading that the FBI were warned about this kid after a youtube comment he made saying "I'm going to be a professional school shooter" in sept. FBI pretty much did nothing...

Yeah this kid shouldn't have been anywhere near a gun, much less legally purchase one. Another one of his ex-friends said all he did was talk about guns, knives and killing animals.

Math teacher Jim Gard, who taught Cruz at Stoneman Douglas last year before he was expelled, said that at some point the school administration sent out a note with a vague suggestion of concern, asking teachers to keep an eye on Cruz. “I don’t recall the exact message,” Gard said, “but it was an email notice they sent out.”

“We were told last year that he wasn’t allowed on campus with a backpack on him,” Gard told the Miami Herald. “There were problems with him last year threatening students, and I guess he was asked to leave campus.”

And Broward County Mayor Beam Furr told CNN that Cruz had been receiving treatment at a mental health clinic for a while, but that he had not been to the clinic for more than a year. “It wasn’t like there wasn’t concern for him,” Furr told CNN. “We try to keep our eyes out on those kids who aren’t connected. … In this case, we didn’t find a way to connect with this kid.

I mean what is the FBI supposed to do about a YouTube comment? If they were even try, people would flip out over privacy and freedom of speech.

The more I think about it the more i see that in order to change things we might have to fight fire with fire...they can’t legally only sell guns to one demographic, so every law abiding minority should arm themselves, in states where you can openly carry assault riffles, minorities should purposely do it and while doing so have their gun liscence hanging from their neck in plain sight...make white America as uncomfortable as possible and i can bet America’s racial bias will be the defining factor to change gun laws....

Bruh, one a year?

Since 2013, there have been nearly 300 school shootings in America — an average of about one a week.
If there has been one a week for the last 10 years, what is the importance of the Select few they've made into huge Media frenzies?

I wonder what the siginificance or connection is with the ones they do "promote" such as this one.

Is it dates, locations? Ritualistic?

You know what I mean though?
I mean, I sure haven't heard of a shooting a week for 10 years.

THis is like the 5th shooting I've heard of in that time span, so why are THOSE important?

All odd man.

It sounds bad but it's almost like we have too much freedom, to the point that it's backfiring on us. But whenever someone tries to tighten up on certain things people get butthurt. I once heard someone say that there's freedom and freedumb, which is basically doing something idiotic just bc you have the ability to do so.

coppin' a glock when the tax return comes in.

replace freedom with privilege

we see all the different ways it expresses itself in abundance

harvey weinstein

This will make the laws change, almost sure of it.

It was actually illegal for freed slaves in the south to possess guns. I urge everyone to look up the Mulford Act of 1967. You will not be surprised by the content.

It's arguable that the civil rights movement would have failed had guns not been available.
