************Hurricane Sandy Thread************ vol. BE SAFE!!!

Drove all around BK and Queens today with my boss visiting our accounts in the area and the gas stations had lines 4 to 10 blocks long. Cops where blocking off streets to prevent people from cutting lines and fights from starting. I work for an Auto Parts store that delivers to shops and all of our trucks are low on gas. Plan B is to try and get a gas truck from out of state to supply all of our delivery trucks and company cars. With the way traffic is that might be impossible. Has anyone heard anything about when NYC is gonna get gas?

I was watching the news and Obama might have gas brought in as an emergency crisis. But still, it must be a madhouse and gridlock with so many people overcrowding with and without gas.

It is. People where hopping out of their cars when they would get cut in line and start fights. Traffic was jammed up on streets even for the people that didn't want gas. I don't know if this is true but I heard someone pulled out a gun on a gas line.

I think there being so many gas stations without power is more of a crisis than lack of supply. If more electric gets turned on, less generators get used and more stations are opened. I heard from a gas station owner in NYC he is expecting his next delivery on either Friday or Saturday.

I heard that on the radio. **** is crazy. :{

So someone went on Google Maps I see and thinks they know it all. Did you even factor in traffic at the bridges and where Flatbush meets Atlantic? Cold as hell outside too. Who wants to ride a bike in this weather for that long?

^^ its not a qustion of "Wants to" its a question of "Have to"

never said it would be a pleasure to do, just do-able...

think about if you HAVE to go to work... is cold weather and stop lights gonna stop you??

ive been in NYC 31 years and when the black out happened some years back, i WALKED, yes WALKED from the city to flatbush/nostrand junction then back to the city for two days because i HAD to...

think.

For those who have been asking, no decision has been made regarding extending unlimited-ride MetroCards.

:\

I hope ya'll stay safe out there man...a lot of people in NC with ties to NY....I'm keeping everyone in my prayers for sure.

Does anyone know if the express busses from staten island to manhattan (and vice versa) are running 24/7. I can't get in touch with mta and can't find anything about the express bus schedules online
Bump.
Still can barely reach mta and only working with wifi. If we can't go home tonight then a bar better be open till 6am cause we'll be drinking!!

any word on nassau county gas situation? I think I might head out at like 2 this morning

hopefully the lines arent OD

Seeing some of these photos really puts things in perspective. Can't imagine what it's like to just have your whole life washed away, for lack of a better word, like that.

On the other hand, this is the 2nd year we've had a 1 in 100 years storm....it's getting real.

deff is not i couldnt get off my exit to go home the line was on to the high way. The station by me got a delivery today so gas is coming its just not enough stations to supply the demand. And with the craziness people who don't even plan to use their car are waiting on lines to get gas cause they think it is gonna run out.

Yo the gas struggle is so real :{:{

There is a spot by me that has cars lined up right now because of a shipment supposedly coming in any time between 1-4AM :{ .

I can do without using my car for the weekend to be honest, so I'm about to say **** it and wait it out till things calm down a bit.

Finally got some wifi. Im in south Freeport we got hit real bad. Some of my neighbors have huge boats smashed into their homes, oil everywhere. Houses and businesses blew up all over the place just pure insanity. When I get some power I'll upload the photos and video

Driving by route 4 to 17 to get some food with my brehs, I done saw like 2 fights go down at the gas station lines while driving by. I'm not even mad at the cats dishing the beat downs. Id do the same. If a person cuts in front of you while you have been waiting (at the least) an hour for gas, you're catching it simple and plain! Why can't you wait in line like everybody else?! If one of you guys done that, shame on you too :lol

Currently in line for gas on Northern Blvd... Been in line for 20 mins and still about half a mile till the station

On my way home and there was a line for gas that went for 12 blocks :x . Cops were there and there was police tape like there had been a fight cus there was a dude layed out on the floor :{
