Is your city boring, activities and people wise

Just landed in NOLA from Philly. Anyone have any recommendations?

Atlanta , vegas n right here at home would be my top 3 ...need to get to New Orleans tho

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, born and raised. The weather is amazing, from September - May (Hurricanes are REAL, so is the rain).

I lived in Atlanta for 2 years, had fun their also, again, the weather there is pretty good too. They're are lots of activities in both cities. I'm an adventurous person so, I feel as though I could thrive in most cities. Tons of parks in Fort Lauderdale, pickup basketball games, football, basketball, baseball, etc. South Florida is a very diverse place but as with most places, always watch the company you keep.

If you want a home in Fort Lauderdale, prepare to pay a grib. Apartments/condos are far better in Broward. If you want a nice, large home in South Florida, Palm Beach County has the best housing situations.

Endless things to do in my city.

The only social/recreational area Oakland is lacking in is probably night life but California in general is pretty bad in that category.

CA night life it's San Diego > LA > San Jose = San Francisco > Oakland

Really?? I been there before years ago and besides everything closing early (that's why NYC is the goat) it was cool.

I hate to be that guy, but to me the US as a whole is pretty bland and boring once you've traveled throughout Southern Europe and Asia *shrugs* I don't get any excitement out of visiting different cities here, and I've been in every major US city many times.

That's the gist of it, though when I say CA sucks I am holding its cities to the standard set by NYC, New Orleans, Atlanta, plus maybe Las Vegas and Miami if youre into the club/bottle service scene.

Bay Area clubs it's out the door at 1:30am. Used to be maybe last call was 1:30am, and you knew you still had 15 - 20 minutes, but not for years now.

It's not actually not even the closing early that's the main issue. Primary issue is no viable public transportation after 12:00pm. There just isn't a culture of late nights here. Maybe in 10 years after the change services like Uber and Lyft have brought really become ingrained in society we'll see a shift.

There are other things through out the state that take away from the experience too.

In the Bay music venues > clubs and bars

sfc415 sfc415 hit the nail on the head though. American night life in general sucks relatively speaking when it comes to clubs and partying.

Do you think this could be attributed to you being so used to the US and other countries being something new?

It's more about how I can go out at 3 AM and see packed streets of people partying/ enjoying life, not having to drop $$$$$ on drinks/food priced 10x the normal rate, not worrying about some lunatic shooting/stabbing someone, not getting into fights over some dumb meathead taking offense into you bumping into him in a packed club, etc (All of which I've experienced here multiple times but never in the places I'm referring to).

That's just on the nightlife side. I could go on about how there's such a lack of culture here in the states unless you go to minority neighborhoods, most of which have been taken over by hipsters by now.

I moved from Detroit to Phoenix last year and don't regret it at all.  Detroit is cool to me because my family is there but for things to do it sucks if you don't like the club, titty bars, or casino.  I can't really rate Phoenix too much since i've only been out here 11 months and have a girlfriend and infant son now, so you know going out is far and few between.  What i can say about Phoenix is the weather is GREAT 8 months out of the year versus 4-5 Months in Detroit.  Arizona as a whole is a straight outdoor state so if you don't like that it will be boring.

My PHX heads can you suggest new places, or things to do out here?
oktoberfest in Tempe was always live. Nov-feb is nice as fuh out there. All the spots are packed, Tempe, downtown PHX, Scottsdale, Westgate, desert ridge, chandler fashion center... Even awahtukee is lit during that time.

But April - October is no Bueno. Damn rivers are dirt. Where's the damn water???

Well yeah of course. European culture is that of indulgence and leisure where as America everything is second to work. Your job is your status symbol. Going out is a form of therapy after working dam near a 50 hour week with no vacation hours and poor health care

[emoji]129304[/emoji][emoji]127997[/emoji][emoji]128526[/emoji] already.

Traffic and weather sucks, very diverse city tho, it can take 40 minutes to get to the other side of town and feel like another city.

you aint never lie. Very diverse out here and im an east coast boy but I ain't never going back . I been here for a year and still aint had enough :smh:

So many different spots for nightlife and then we didn't even get into food. I'm expecting Houston to become even more serious when they build up the downtown area.

downtown is my fav place to be now...

the city is  doing a really good job with downtown cause it used to be grimey AF.

Man downtown always gona be grimey like that. I used to stay on 1st ward wich is 3 1/2 minutes from downtown

Im barely startin to get into the downtown scene tho. Soon as this weather clears up im tryna mess wit this new camera amd explore downtown. Im tryna get views from building rooftops.

Yeah everyone was telling me back then you wouldnt even dare to venture to downtown Houston. It was that bad?

Probably like how Times Square was dangerous and not where you would go in the 80s till they built it up.

Suburbia is what you expect from suburbia

City trips once in a while, decent public transportation, sometimes get stagnant but just have to find things to do.

I'm from Oakland and went to college in Los Angeles. I love both of those areas. For an Asian American, the Bay Area and So-cal are probably the best places to live. Great food, clubs, bars, raves, concerts, sports teams its all there. I recently moved to Sacramento in January and I HATE IT. It seems so slow-spaced and boring to me, maybe it's because I don't know anyone. Also the weather sucks.

East Bay-er who went to school in LA too. I try to avoid going to the SAC/Fairfield/Stockton area as much as possible.
